What is it with these people that keep slamming Vlad for "not panning out"??? Don't you who say this realize the difficulty and time it takes to fully understand the intricacies of the triangle offense? It takes at least one full year (and actually 2 to fully master it). How long has Vlad been a Laker? 36 games? And already people here are crucifying him?
Give him a chance!
Laker nation People with little patience and that don't understand the complexities of the triangle.
People also forget that Vlad injured his hand early in the season, but the guy opted not to have surgery and miss significant time. Vlad has been good for us in some games, so we need to wait for him to become healthy and better acquainted with the offense. People need to wait and see that the Vlad signing will pan out in the long run. _________________ I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce!
I wish we could get Rashard Lewis. I've been wanting him on the Lakers since he was a rookie.
Brian Cook + Andrew Bynum + Phil Jackson for Rashard Lewis
Now we're starting to throw Phil into the mix on the trade blocks?
Where will the madness end? Well, at least he has some value, opposed to the typical Sasha, Cook, and Mckie's expiring contract for whatever superstar is being talked about.
This may be as hard as I've laughed following that Houston ass whoop'n!!

Webber at the center position?
I don't think I've ever done this before, but I am handing out a second trout slap in the same thread for that comment...
Laker nation MIM wanting a soft PF (who plays more like a SF) to be our anchor at center.
Admittedly, it is NOT ideal. But hear me out:
(1) Despite reports to the contrary, Kwame STILL is having trouble catching the ball in crunch time. C-Webb can certainly catch.
(2) Center is supposedly the relatively easiest spot in the tri to learn. Given C-Webb's passing ability, he hopefully won't be as far behind as he otherwise would be if he were another player to come in mid-season.
(3) At 6-10, 245, Webber still rebounds well inside.
(4) Given that Webb, even in his current condition, has more moves in the post than Kwame has EVER had, we can have a more reliably balanced offense.
Besides, I'm not looking to START Webber at C. Still, it can be an effective lineup in spurts.
However, I understand your misgivings. Troutslap accepted. I will speak very little of this again.
At times Vlad has looked like our strongest post player in the paint. He drives to the lane more than Kobe, posts up more than Cook and doesn't shoot as many poor shots as Smush, on the outside. I hope Cook would be traded before Vlad.
Drives more than Kobe? That's ridiculous. He's primarily a perimeter player. A few drives here and there don't mean he drives more than Kobe. _________________ "In essence, the trade was: Shaq, Rick Fox and Gary Payton for Odom, Kwame, Mihm, Profit, 2nd round picks, a 1st round pick and 30 million in luxury tax saviings." - LakerJam
• Even though he likes the trade last year of Vladimir Radmanovic for Chris Wilcox, Hill said that in a perfect world the Sonics would acquire a three-point shooting forward.
Hill also said the front office is working to fill the vacancy on the roster, but said, "You don't want to get help just for the sake of [getting help]. You want to do the right thing for the team. I've been a part of bad deals before."
Just a thought to add to the Cook pile.
MIM
Hill's in denial. He really wants Radman for Wilcox. Make the call Mitch!

How about Cook, Mckie, and Smush for Watson? (Assuming the Webber signing)
Gives Seattle the shooting big and a rental backup for Ridnour. Smush will probably not pout too much as he has a new contract to play for. Saves them 1/2 mill this year and over 2 mill next.
For LA, clears roster spots, Smush makes the money work, and there's no real sense keeping him to sit. Sasha and Farmar get the bulk of the minutes as Watson learns. Next year its all UCLA at the 1. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel

Kobe is now primarily a perimeter player. Not always, but many games I see Vlad cutting to the rim more often and Kobe taking more jumpers, pull up 3's, fade-aways. For whatever reason, age, injury, fatige, Kobe is not driving to the hoop as much and it is making defending him a bit easier.

A little OT, but is it just me, or is Radman the absolute worst passer on the team right now? _________________ Chris Mihm - "...the reason he's been forced to take as many shots as he has is because our offense tends to stagnate and then we just have a tendency to throw him the ball. keep it simple, I'm a Cincy fan but they don't need Fortson, they have a younger version in Turiaf. Watson for McKie/Cook opens up a roster spot for Webber, and gives them a very deep roster.

I like this lineup. Simple trade, works for both teams.
sure - everything works - except for the money...
that's what happens when you use the trade checker and don't bother to do the math yourself...
The money does work. Cook and McKies salary times 125% plus $100,000 is more then the $5,400,000 that Watson is getting paid.
Great trade idea in my opinion, especially if Webber is really considering the Lakers.
so you're saying that 125% of 4 mil. is 5.3 mil ?
ok then, i guess that when you really want to make a deal, even the laws of math can bend...
Add Smush and it works. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
sure it will, but i think that might be giving up a little too much - and i like watson a lot.
its still a big risk in a system like the triangle to just give up your starter and a serviceble back up pf - both with great contracts, for an overpaid pg who'll have to come in under pressure to learn the system - with basicaly only shammond and sasha behind farmar.
its a big risk.
i'd rather add sasha instead and keep smush - probably as a starter - untill watson gets the system down pat.

I'm OK with that too. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
I dont want Watson, I want Wilcox... Vlad + Cook + Pick + Farmar or whatever... just do it Mitch... imagine what a powerline itd be Kwame/Bynum/Wilcox, with Odom's skill based game, one hell of a front line. _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com
