KCP nixes a deal that would have sent him and Michael Beasley to Chicago in exchange for Jabari Parker.
Quote: | The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly reached a tentative agreement to send Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Michael Beasley to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Jabari Parker ahead of the trade deadline, but KCP never approved the deal.
On Tuesday, Bill Oram of The Athletic reported the Bulls waited three days from Jan. 25 through Jan. 28 but decided to move on after Caldwell-Pope didn't provide an answer and the Lakers switched their main focus to the New Orleans Pelicans' Anthony Davis. |
LINK
Just consider the ramifications of this. Sending Beasley in this package would have avoided us trading away Zubac since apparently we did that trade just to get rid of Beasley. Plus we might have avoided the Anthony Davis fiasco since there is a chance we might not have "switched our focus" on to him. Finally, the publicity hit this organization took from the AD circus might not only allowed us to make the playoffs since the team would not have mentally checked out, but it might also have made Los Angeles a more appealing destination during free agency.
KCP might very well have ruined this franchise single-handedly with this move! _________________ Don't make me give you a trout slap! |

Also if he nixes the deal, sit him on his ass and play him 0 mins. instead the lakers are playing him around 40mins last couple of games.
guess why? to do agent favors. thanks Rob |

Jabari (bleep) Parker. Are you serious. The guy who signed a 2 year 40 million deal with the Bulls. He would have helped nothing except make us questioned again, why did we let Randle go. Imagine paying Jabari (bleep) Parker 20 million next season? KCP is hopefully gone and off the books. We gave him the one year contract with an auto no trade clause. He had every right to refuse any trade. |

We could have in theory traded Jabari Parker during the draft for some assets had the trade gone through. |

The genius sports agency that had us trading our entire core for one of their clients as well as signing KCP this season instead of Randle or some other players.
Having Klutch control two thirds or more of our payroll...
What could possibly go wrong? |

Due to the nature of his one year deal, the CBA has a built in no trade clause. It’s not Klutch. It’s the Lakers. They should have never given him that $12m deal. |

I don't know what's worse: continuously overpaying KCP only to see him refuse to accommodate us or the fact that they saw Jabari Parker as the reinforcement they needed. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

So you go on record saying it's a good idea for Klutch to control two thirds of our team?
I'm not saying it's impossible for it to work... but it seems like they'd have enormous power over team decisions and direction. |

that really sucks
we could have Zubac and Jabari Parker
Instead of KCP and Mike Muscala
people rag on Jabari for his defense comments but this guy is a former #2 pick that has had bad injuries
he still averaging 15 pts on 52% Fg and 7 rebounds in 30 mins for the season
he has played well in Washington.
in March Averaging 17 & 7 on 56% shooting _________________ I got Nothing interesting to put here |

We could have easily flipped Jabari for another draft pick or used him as a sweetner in a AD trade, what a bummer. |

LMAO!!! Everybody worked up for Jabari Parker....and if the trade went through we wouldn’t have shifted to AD meaning the young guys wouldn’t have checked out. What absolute nonsense. LG is now famous for a bunch of wining babies crying “ahhhh why? KCP messed us up...who gave him a no trade! Whaaaa whaaaa.” 🤣🤣😂😂 |

If Klutch pressures the Lakers into a pro forma no trade clause contract to sign KCP... then Klutch has some if not most of the responsibility.
The fact that you are splitting hairs over legal semantics is besides the point.
Do you think we pay 12 million for KCP without Klutch's involvement?
If they don't ask us to do them a solid, are we stuck with an overpriced, uncooperative player with a no trade contract?
If you don't reply, I will assume you understand. |
