I was puzzled by this trade, but I guess I kind of get it. You already have Mo as a young center to develop, whose shooting and speed make him a better fit. Seems like there are going to be buyout options (not Melo) who can help the team more than zu down the stretch. And getting rid of Beasley is a positive. I'll miss Zu, but hey, at least his games will be on local TV.

Trust me.

I spent 3 years following the Knicks (because of the Triangle).

Carmelo Anthony was the mother of all cancers . . .

If LeBron wants Carmelo thats what the Lakers will do.

LeGM strikes again.

After watching Muscala highlights, he is actually a great pick up as a back up 4.

@_Lakers_4_Life
Ivica Zubac last 9 games:

23 minutes
14 points
7 rebounds
1 assist
1 block
59% fg
85% ft

21 years [expletive] old

And we just gave him away for some reject named Mike Muscala

Yeah look, we probably lost this trade, but Muscala will be nice giving backup minutes at PF and C. Gives us shooting too, hopefully he can shoot at a higher percentage than he has been. Apparently a solid defender, also

Rondo/Stephenson (Ball)
Bullock/KCP
Ingram/Hart
LeBron/Kuzma/Muscala
McGee/Chandler

I think a Melo or Kanter signing is next, we already have a lot of wings so we won't sign Ellington. Anyway, I think we'll keep persisting with the Rondo/Ingram/Bron/Kuzma/McGee lineup, with KCP or Hart falling out of the rotation

Hmm. Might be our best FT shooter. The irony.

Would have been better off with Kupchak minus Jim Buss of course.

Mitch made great deals, other than Moz and Deng which were Jimbo deals.

I don't think Magic has much of a clue, and Pelinka is a former agent with zero FO experience.

Recipe for disaster....

The only reason those deals became an issue was because Maginka wanted to be free agent players. Mitch decided to punt free agency after being turned down summer after summer. Those deals weren't going to get in the way of the kids. All kids would be here today including Russell and Randle. By the time those 4 yrs are up for Deng and Moz, our kids would have grown. Maybe show promise like the Lake Show Lakers of the 90's, and then we attract someone like AD in '20 when Deng and Moz goes off the books. I had no issues with the path we were taking.

Jeannie Buss impatient.

Agreed! Magic has to realize he got us the OLDbron not the King. No matter how great the player is, it can not fight against time..... Just looked at MJ at wizards, Shaq. KG, Kobe......

We need to clean house after this season

New front office, GM, coach, and most of the roster

I agree, but why stop there? New ownership is really needed.

was speaking in context of floor spacing and 3 point shooting. Ingram and Lebron on the same time doesn't accomplish that.

Besides that.... I read in this thread alone about 25x that he's a "shooter".

For goodness sake, he's shooting the 3 at a lower clip than the league average. That makes him a below average shooter!

It's like every freaking person that calls Kuzma a good shooter. He's not! And neither is Muscala. Just because you take them doesn't make you a good shooter!

I'm all for trading young assets for good shooters, but Muscala isn't one of them! At last check, the league average shoots the 3 at 36%, he shoots it at 34%! This team actually needs PRODUCTION from the 3, they don't need someone to take them and make them at below average rates!!!!

(bleep)!

The fact that people keep trying to make an artificial division between Jim and Mitch is hilarious. They seemed to work well together and always made decisions cohesively or at least it seemed.

Mitch/Jim turned out to be good trades and drafting. They were not good at Free Agency, even though Lou was a really nice pick up. There is nothing to say but the fact that Lou/Moz were bad signings.

However, I agree, in their big picture it didnt matter. They were punting on Free Agency for a few years to concentrate on developing the young guys (while still keeping a max spot)

I think there was always a big division in the Organization. Wonky Substance (West/Mitch/Jim/etc.) vs. Style (Jeanie/Magic/Media/Showtime Cartel).

Dr. Buss was able to bridge these two aspects.

Looking back its clear that the impetus to sign Big Free Agents was always coming from the Style people. After years of feeling pressure to sign Free Agents, the F.O. signed Moz/Deng almost to tie up the money and get the Style people off their back.

Despite being bad in Free Agency, the old Front Office slowly built and cultivated assets. Ever since they left, it is all about getting big names and creating a splash.

As a result, we are now spending the assets that we had slowly earned and saved like a drunk guy at a casino.
