It begs the question: had Maginka/Luke treated Randle a alot better and had Maginka formed a better relationship with Goodwin, who is also the agent of Paul George, would Maginka had been able to get a meeting with Paul George and subsequently convinced him to come?
I have been saying from day one that Lebron needed the Lakers more than the Lakers needed him but people will be quick to dismiss that theory without thinking it through.
Everything to me now seems like Maginka put alll their eggs in the Lebron/Rich Paul basket and by default, Lebron/Rich Paul are the GM's of the team. Everything KD said about Lebron creating a toxic environment is starting to materialize as much as I hate to say it.
Wish we stayed the course with our youth movement and made PG the priority last summer. We could have then focused on KD/Kawhi this summer, while keeping Randle. I am cool with loosing D-Lo for Hart and T Bryant (whom I also felt we should have kept). I wish D-Lo the best but at the time, this wasn't the best place for him. |

I really don't care about either of them. All I care about is this current team with LeBron for the next 4 years. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Just imagine if we made Randle and PG13 the priority instead of KCP and Lebron:
2019-2020 roster:
C - Lopez/Zubac/T Bryant
F - Randle/Kuzma/Wagner
F - Kawhi/Ingram/Svi
G - PG13/J Hart/Bonga
G - Ball/(Room Exception - D Collison?)/2019 FRP
Just saying...

DLo starting 5 is Kurucs, Joe Harris, Trevon Graham and Jaret Allen.
Even with Lebron out with injuries and the Nets in the eastern conference, they should be in no way have a better record than us......... |

I wish we could have kept all the youngsters, but the two bad contracts cost us. I can somewhat understand the DLo trade but was upset with letting Randle go and getting nothing in return, especially seeing what Pope signed for. I do not agree with letting a YOUNG asset go without any return. If you buy a new Corvette you just don't give the older one away. It still has value.. |

To another non-playoff lottery season. “The Lakers” were buried with Dr. Buss, what we have now is just another NBA team. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

If I recall the lakers tried to trade Randle and couldn’t net even a 2nd rounder and an expiring contract for him. Y’all act like we didn’t try to get a return on him, nobody was interested. I think the best shot we had was a Randle for Noel trade straight up then Noel got hurt.
With DLO, despite his talent, I think the FO was done with his lack of work ethic and the Young incident sealed his fate.
Between the young core v1.0 of Randle, BI, DLO, Nance, Clarkson there isn’t a single player in there that will ever make an all star game, has anything approaching a complete game or has the desire to be great. That just my opinion. The ONLY young player we’ve had that I see has any hunger to be special is Kuzma. |

I don't see much improvement in Randle. He's getting solid numbers but it's not translating to team wins for the Pelicans. He's not making much of an impact. He is putting up good numbers on a lottery team. Some people here were overrating him with most wanting to pay him between $16-18M a year. Some crazy people here wanted to pay him the max $25M a year. The market value ended up being $9M a year. The cap space we would have left couldn't get us a star player. He's not even a #3 on a contender. I would rather have Kuzma at a fraction of the price. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

EVEN if they traded DLO you could have gotten more than they go but essentially used him as a way to get rid of one of those bad contracts. I do think Randle was due to the belief that Lebron would play PF/SF with a rotation of Kuzma and Ingram. If Ingram is a bad fix next to Lebron would Randle have worked? |

As I posted, once Dr. Buss passed that “special” was no longer there. No matter if it is Jim in charge, or Jeanie or Jesse in charge. None of them are Dr. Buss, and it isn’t their fault. We are like almost every other NBA team now, firing coaches every couple of years, tanking for lottery picks and hoping we catch fire. And like many of those other teams we could catch fire and win a title. That is why I stick around, I hope to see that happen again. I started watching the Lakers when I saw Magic play and became a fan once I realized the brilliance of Jerry Buss. Those things are no longer here and it isn’t a surprise it’s been a struggle. We all know the stats on the success of kids taking over a business after the creator of that business does, failure is prevalent. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Losing Randle was a blunder my Magic Rob. Cutting Thomas Bryant was a blunder. At a minimum both would have been great trade assets.
Randle would have been our 2nd best player this year by far. How do you blow it. They totally mishandled things and could have given him a 2 year deal with no risk.
Russell deal worked out as we got Kuzma and got rid of Mosgov which it turns out really wasn't that important to our cap situation. Russell seemed to have some issues but would have been a decent 2 guard with Ball at the 1. So I like this deal and would call it at least an even swap.
I like the Nance/Clarkson deal too as i do not view either player on a championship type of team and we got back a 1 and got rid of Clarkson's contract. |

DLO would have been great to watch at SG alongside Ball. Randle was becoming a force in the middle and now he's got a 3 shot. Only problem is, we'd have needed to stick with the young core strategy and not go max FA. The plan was to build a perennial contender.
Still gotta see who we pull in besides LeBron, and if we get any titles out of this. |

Love how it's only been 3-4 days since this article came out and some people already want to deal every player we have under the age of 26 to get AD.

They didn't.
And the Nets gave up far less than D'lo to move Mozgov just an off-season later. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:
