Look how valuable Montrezl Harrell is for the Clippers right now. A brute inside, boarding, D'ing, switching from bigs to small. SMFH. |
Exactly. A guy with motor. Someone to set the emotional tone for the team.
The Celtics have been looking lifeless all season. Then last game they started Smart and Morris. Not their not talented guys, but by far the most fiery and they went up 34-21 in the 1st against the Pels in NO and ended up whipping em.
Kind of like how we needed Fisher to be the sobering yin to Kobe's smoldering yang. Or how Dray is to Steph/Klay. This team badly needs someone to balance out LeBron's (regular season) apathy, especially when ALL of our young guys have motor/engagement issues. Lance could be that guy personality-wise but you can't start him, or really even play him that much.
The FO might have had the right instinct signing some "dogs" but they're either too old to bring it every game or simply not good enough. |

Perhaps they were a bit over zealous in trying to put their own stamp on this team. They were all too eager to renounce Randle. You can't trade BI because he's a #2 pick asset, since you already dumped D'LO. I have no clue why they chose Zubac over Bryant, perhaps trying to make things not so obvious. Soon enough, there will be no one left from the past regime. Zubac will be gone, rightfully, and BI is on thin ice.
20/20, I would have package BI with Moz to New Jersey. Because perhaps we get more than just the 27th pick (Kuzma). BI was perceived more valuable than D'Lo around the league. D'Lo and Zo would have worked well, and I think the starting line-up would have more balance, symmetry. Lebron can have an extra 3 pt shooter in D'Lo.
Hey, could this regime swallow it's pride and ask the Nets to swap Russell for BI? Don't they have a log-jam? They probably wouldn't do it. |

Bazegod I wish we kept.
DLo I didn't like the deal for, wish we could have got something more. At least draft picks or something.
Randle should have been handled better. |

Odom to Dallas was handled extremely poor.
Caron for Kwame was typical Mitch.
Never should have traded for Nash or Dwight.

We did get a pick for Russell. It was the pick we selected Kuzma with. Hard to argue that the front office didn't play that one right.
It's been so long since the Bazemore mistake that it's hard to stay salty over it. Who knows if we're in position to draft Ingram/Ball and subsequently lure James if Bazemore gets retained?
The truth is that we don't know if Randle was willing to come back to the Lakers on the same contract he accepted in New Orleans. Hard to argue that his role wouldn't have been reduced with us below what he's enjoying on the Pelicans. He's playing for a big contract above all still and wants to be where he's most likely to get it. It was pretty clear that wouldn't be with us. The only thing the Lakers could have done to change what happened was sign him to an extension the prior year but that was before his breakout and there was no telling if he would live up to said extension. A calculated gamble that the majority of us agreed with at the time. |

Zu better show up when he gets time from now on if Bryant is going balls out cray cray. Didn't understand that move at all letting Bryant walk instead of retaining him under his cheap deal to sign Lance or Beas.
McGee/Bryant/Zu
Randle/Kuz
LBJ/Ingram
Mitchell/Hart
Fox/IT or Rondo is fine as is
This is assuming Zo was dealt to Sac for #5 and 10. |

Damn, and we were legit excited when Zubac scored half as many points.
I liked Thomas Bryant but he never showed up when we gave him minutes.
Then again we only gave him 15 games at about 5 minutes each.
Hopefully we don't do the same dumb sh*t with Svi... If we didn't have injuries I think he'd be on the same pace for minutes.
Moral of the story... let your kids play... and give them a real chance... instead of wasting minutes on a 9 year veteran who's played well for us but will most likely never be more than what he is right now. |

In NBA history, the greatest players never made more shots without a miss than Bryant's 14. Not Kareem, Shaq, Mike, LeBron, Kobe, Duncan, Robinson, Hakeem, etc. Only Wilt...and Thomas Bryant. Let that sink in.
I didn't like or understand his release. I don't think Wagner is as good because he's not physical enough. Bryant, like Randle, could have been traded at some point if they didn't want him. It's going to go down in history as boneheaded mgmt, imo. |

Randle “Pibull on both ends”. Should never let go of 20 and 10 for nothing.... Even if wasnt part of plans, Wouldve been a huge trade chip to have. |

I think Thomas had a longer wingspan as well ,but Wagner is more agile than tb while offering some of the same thing other than physicality. Wagner is a better ball handler and passer both play with fire and emotion .I guess the front office thought it was redundant to have both TB and Moe idk I said it then and it this just strengthen my thoughts we should have kept TB. |

Lou - No: trade for a 1st round pick that got us a 1st round pick that turn into Kuzma
Russell - Maybe?: trade to unload Mozgov's contract and clear cap space. I thought Russell had the most potential for the young team but he would be up for a new contract sooner than other rookies. Would've been better if we unloaded Deng's contract instead. We got Hart with the pick.
Randle - Yes!: Never let an asset go for nothing. I understand letting him go to keep the books clear but they should've worked on a sign and trade.
Clarkson - No regrets, cleared cap space for Lebron and drafted Wagner
Nance - No regrets, cleared cap space for Lebron and drafted Wagner
Nwaba - No regrets
Thomas Bryant - Slight Regrets: I thought Lakers should've waived Zubac before Bryant as Bryant is the more capable 3 point shooter. He also made the G League's All NBA First Team
Separate note but a mistake imo - Drafting Bonga when De'Anthony Melton and Bruce Brown Jr were available. |

There aren't forward minutes available. Randle would have been a full time five. Randle's impact lessens with reduced shots, and he wouldn't be getting 13 attempts per game here. The best move would have been to trade him last season, but the front office may have kept him had LBJ not signed.
Cutting Bryant was the bigger mistake, as we'll need cheap contracts moving forward. |

I think Randle was way ahead of Kuzma last year but this year is a good debate. Who's a better player currently (overall, defense, boards, spreading floor, passing, etc)? |

I agree with many should have kept Bryant and let Zubac go. Perhaps there was something else to it behind the scenes. Seemed odd to let a stetch 4/5 go over a low post only player in Zubac, who lets be honest has digressed each year.
Randle I get I think the original expectation was Lebron & Ingram at 3/4 and use it to keep cap space open next year. We can't undervalue that part of the logic. Rondo is on a one year deal and they have a second part of this next yar or even this year at the trade deadline. |
