my sources inside lakers are better than WOJ unless his are magic/pelinka. The front offices only real issue ( when season started) was that luke wasnt surrounding himself with better guys. Thats why they brought Rambis in to be a consultant. Obviously if Luke wets the bed thats another story.
FO likes luke and as of a couple months ago intended on hm growing with team. maybe bron changed that but I dont know. Bron doesnt seem like a guy who wants/needs a riles type.
When woj moved to BSPN he became more of a sensationalist.
Whether we like it or not, WOJ is an insider who is one of the most well-connected guys in the NBA. If you don't think he has sources within the Lakers organization then you're naive. The guy is a successful sports journalist for a reason.
I don't get why everyone's personal/emotional opinion gets in the way and everyone tries to discredit his work. His track record is pretty damn good and that's why he has a huge following and gets paid the big bucks. Period.
Well you couldnt be more wrong about this because WOJ has rarely had any sort of source from L.A and LeBron. It's actually quite well known he has had a vendetta against LBJ
Woj paints a very bleak picture of lebron and magic here. Is it accurate or agenda driven? Thr clips get better press than the lakers right now, what is happening?
BSPN plays the percentages. There are lot more Laker haters in this country than Laker fans, especially in east coast and Midwest. They want ratings so they just steer their coverage and analysis that way.
If there was such a big riff about this you would think local Laker beat writers would have mentioned this by now. The only thing that was reported publicly was Magic talking to Luke when the team was struggling. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

Luke really needs a great Xs and Os guy on his staff just like PJ had Tex. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Eh, it's all too reductive for me. LeBron replaces the coach he inherits. Management replaces the coach they inherit. Magic replaces the coach he inherits. Meanwhile Walton has the team buying in and playing defense, James has publicly been complimentary, and Where we are this far into the season is better than anyone expected.
The one thing I will say, is that Magic's #1 goal being landing a second max next summer, if getting that buy-in requires a change in Coach, that probably happens.
The no star wants to play with Lebron thing is BS.
How do you know it has truth?
I meant to say imo.
Just going back to last season, starting with Fizdale rumors, etc. and this year’s early struggles.
I think Luke has done a decent job all things considered. Somewhat saved by Lebron ball in some games, but there are worst options that I’m afraid could happen.

Is Steve Kerr contracted to GS long term? If Durant and/or Klay end up leaving next summer, I would love to make a run at Kerr. _________________ I miss you Kobe. I miss you Gigi.
Time for LeBron’s personal media body guard Brian Windhorst to stand up and fight back.
Windhorst has said publicly that he hasn't had a direct relationship with a LeBron for a long time now. Brian became far more Gilbert centric at some point and has been pretty critical of James. Up until almost the very end he didn't even have insight on James moving to LA.

I didn't know that. Interesting he wrote a big long article couple weeks ago on how the Clippers care a big threat land KD and KL. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

Lee Jenkins leveraging contacts/relationships in the media?
Watching the clip WOJ and especially Lowe sound like they are pro-Luke. Also WOJ sounded like he thought it was almost impossible for Magic to fire Luke if the Lakers play well this year. Which is why Lebron putting his foot down so early in the year is helping keep Luke's job safe.
5.20 is when they start talking about Luke in the video:
Luke's got 2 more years left on his deal. So, probably means Magic will cut ties with Luke after this season or the next year after so Luke isn't a lame duck coach. Unless the Lakers win a title the next 2 years, doesn't look like Luke will be here for the long term. So, essentially it's the same situation Spoelstra was in with his first 2 years with LeBron, as LeBron wanted Riley, but Riley stuck with Spo, and when the Heat won the title, LeBron had no choice but to accept Spo as the coach. Now, seems like Magic & Bron both want their own coach, but Jeanie is sticking with Luke, so will see how this one plays out the end of this year and next season.
Riles stompin! Watch him. He should get a technical...
Unfort, I don't have it uploaded, but I got a great one where Pat was ejected by Mike Mathis in 2 straight Ts and had to walk the entire court to get to the exit and he stopped and yelled MF! and other delights at Mathis. Mathis was one of those bastards like Javie who took zero guff. http://www.phideltatheta.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Mike_Mathis.jpg

Bron wants his own coach? He's been nothing but publicly and loudly supportive of Luke since he got there. Also since Magic had his public falling out with Luke, you should have noticed Lebron started putting his foot down on the court. Took the Lakers from 2-5 to 17-11. If Lebron wanted his own coach he would have continued coasting and had the Laker sub .500 after 30.

Jeannie sticking with Luke because Luke reminds her of a younger Phil Jackson. Luke and Rambis both are to her. In perfect world Jeanie Buss wants Phil as head coach and rambis and Luke as two top assistants. God I just hate her ways of running this team. Everything has to link to past Laker glories.

There was reports of LeBron wanting to be coached by Fizdale even before he signed with the Lakers, and publicly imo Bron learned from the David Blatt & Spo incidents, so now if Luke gets let go, it would be a Magic call and LeBron won't get the heat for it, which was why he is being more complimentary of Luke imo due to the media scrutiny. Let's not forget the reports of LeBron wanting Mark Jackson to be the coach of the Cav's before Ty Lue took over and won a ring, so Lue stayed as coach. It's just the politics of the NBA, and right now Luke is looking like the odd man out in the big picture.
