Good to see him moving his feet more by sliding now. | ok so that wasnt me dreaming. i thought i saw that. i grew up with some people that played that hop along defense. i always cautioned them to not pull that versus anyone with a handle or quickness. |
GT mentioned this in either a video or a post. Spot on. _________________ KOBE |

I've been breaking down each defensive possession for Kuz over the last 6 games, and it's one of the stranger turnarounds I've seen. He's been nothing short of fantastic. Not just by his standards, but league-wide. Sliding his feet & contesting, doing his work before catch, etc.
Maybe it's just a hot streak (you can have defensive hot streaks, right?) but I'm struggling to think of other examples of guys who've been really bad defenders. and then did a 180 like this
Six games isn't long enough for me to feel like it's permanent yet, but VERY encouraging |
I’ve always felt Kuzma to potentially be a very good defender, especially from the perimeter. He has the drive and work ethic to continue growing as a player on both ends.
Despite his size/length, he always acted like a SG to me. A player that plays extremely well off the ball, catch and shoot, with improving ball movement capabilities. Then the way he defends better from the outside vs bigmen. That doesn’t scream PF to me in the slightest.
At least, that’s just my observation. |
He’s more of a SF on defense.
I like what I see from him . He’s giving a lot of effort now defensively. I believed it just a matter of time for him to become a positive net on that end. |

Interesting turn around from Kuz on both ends lately. He's not only done a 180 on defense but his playmaking and court awareness has taken a big step forward too. If he can be 18/7/4 on 57+ TS% I will be very happy. |

All of the young players have had to adjust from being first options on a losing team, to playing with a ball-dominant star like LeBron. It's also taking the coaching staff awhile to figure out adjustments, and what lineups work. Kuzma strikes me as an extremely hard worker, so I think he is right about on schedule with the Lebron adjustment. To me if Kuzma averages 16/7/3 and continues the improved defense he is more than doing the job. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

Kuzma's dramatic turn around on defense is huge I also like that he is more selective on shots and being more of a playmaker. |

And I don’t think it is a coincidence that both him and Ingram improve their shot selection when Rondo is out. |

Ive expected this from Kuzma. It has been clear from last summer league that he wants to be a winner...and has the game to back it up. Kuzma and Hart have to stay....everyone else....if it comes to it...can go.
I root for all the lakers though...but Kuzma is my type of player...smooth offense...decent D. A potential flamethrower...you need those dudes who can drop 30! |

Kuzma is playing the "politics" game really well. He's clearly trying to be in the Lebron camp/clique. Not a bad way to keep from being traded LOL... |

Watch the final 8:00 of the 4th quarter.
Who took the challenge of guarding Derozan.
Kuzma and he did a pretty solid job on him down that stretch. _________________ Tacos |

Tough assignment having to guard Derozan down the stretch in a tight game, made him miss 3 times in a row |

Nice game by Kuz. 39 minutes, 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Good job on D! _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Kuzzzz, loved the bravery out there as per usual. Shot rickety but put in beyond scoring. |

He's the #2 scoring option right now. Him and Lebron are developing a nice chemistry together. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

With BI out KUZ perhaps felt he needed to force it a little more than he has of late.
He'll figure it out |

Digging the passing and he also had a couple of nice defensive possessions late. |
