Kuz is heating up! 29 min, 23 pts (8-14 and three 3's) 8 reb, 3 assts, 1 stl and 1 blk. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

He’s been better on D and has done a much better job moving the ball lately. If he gets his 3 ball back, star KUZ would be back and then some. |

When he's on, the game is so much easier for the Lakers.
Keep that head band off |

Lebron says Kuz was the very first person to call him when he signed. He says they actually started talking when he was in Cleveland. He says he saw his talent in the two games they played last year. He says the relationship is getting better and better.

He’s made the biggest strides in this past 10 game stretch. His defense at least looks legit and maintainable.
His 3 ball is coming around and his play making is becoming a thing.
Would love for him to bump up his November averages of 14.6/5.4/1.7
He’s capable of bumping those across the board and becoming a more consistent player for this team. |

I hate those damn comparisons. Kuzma is infinitely times more skilled than Clarkson ever was and actually had the damn drive to improve. |

You have to wonder why it took 20 games. Especially since he cMe on stronger at the end of last season. Hopefully it will be sustained and not a small streak of games like last season. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

He's a pretty streaky player though right?
If he can make an impact in other aspects of the game besides scoring, he'll be all right. |

Kuz (and Zo) are the epitome of streaky. Their jumpshots will come and go all season, but if they rebound and defend, it isn't as much of a disaster for us. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

I've been breaking down each defensive possession for Kuz over the last 6 games, and it's one of the stranger turnarounds I've seen. He's been nothing short of fantastic. Not just by his standards, but league-wide. Sliding his feet & contesting, doing his work before catch, etc.
Maybe it's just a hot streak (you can have defensive hot streaks, right?) but I'm struggling to think of other examples of guys who've been really bad defenders. and then did a 180 like this
Six games isn't long enough for me to feel like it's permanent yet, but VERY encouraging |
I’ve always felt Kuzma to potentially be a very good defender, especially from the perimeter. He has the drive and work ethic to continue growing as a player on both ends.
Despite his size/length, he always acted like a SG to me. A player that plays extremely well off the ball, catch and shoot, with improving ball movement capabilities. Then the way he defends better from the outside vs bigmen. That doesn’t scream PF to me in the slightest.
At least, that’s just my observation. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

I always thought one of Kuz's defensive shortcomings was that he hopped around on defense rather than sliding. So when he made a defensive hop and the player changed directions he was screwed.
Good to see him moving his feet more by sliding now. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Good to see him moving his feet more by sliding now. | ok so that wasnt me dreaming. i thought i saw that. i grew up with some people that played that hop along defense. i always cautioned them to not pull that versus anyone with a handle or quickness. |
