Just looking at these last 3 games, what stood out most to me was the discrepancy between FTs and 3-pointers between the Lakers and their opponents. Even when the opposing team struggled from three or the free-throw line, the Lakers still under-performed in both of these categories.
Without pointing fingers, consider these possible solutions:
1) Team defense should be a priority (defensive strategies, not simply sets)
Based on our offensive style and use of extended rotations, we need to press and trap more to increase the intensity of our defense and shorten the opponent's shotclock
2) Starting lineup needs scoring and defense (consistency is key)
Suggestions: McGee, Kuzma, LeBron, SG (Hart or Stevenson), PG (Ball or Rondo)
3) Slow down ball at times (especially when losing or playing the clock)
Stephenson/Lebron do a good job of controlling the tempo when we're unable to score. This was especially important last night in OT up six against the Spurs when we needed good possessions
It seems as if we are just running the floor, using every active body we have down to the 12th man, aggressively trying to physically out-play our opponents in a game of last-man-standing. It seems we are still missing a clear identity and scoring/defensive strategies. Let me know what you think. _________________ Stay cool, stay calm, stay crazy! |

I agree with you. Too bad Laidback Luke isn't going to realize what changes need to be made for anther 2-3 months like last season |

I like the idea of pressing and trapping more on the perimeter so that we can prevent other teams from getting the ball to the spots they want or setting up teammates for an open 3. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

Pressing and trapping in the NBA usually leads to a whole lot of bad outcomes for the pressing team.
I like the starting lineup, though. _________________ Under New Management |

If we continue to give up 120+ points per game, I don't see how trapping in the corner or catching teams off guard with a press or two will hurt. Bulls and Lakers both ran these schemes under Phil. _________________ Stay cool, stay calm, stay crazy! |

Easy Fix to win games now was lost in the off-season.
The hope now is that LeBron has a bunch of monster games, that Ingram finds a way to mesh with LeBron, and that Kuzma stops playing center. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Phil mostly unleashed them selectively to wake his own team up.
But the 120+ points per game is both 1) a product of the Lakers insane pace and 2) not going to be ameliorated through trapping, which would likely produce easy transition looks for opponents and increase the Lakers insane pace even further. _________________ Under New Management |

I think OP is trying to say do it sporadically like Phil used to. I agree with that. Mix it up on defense instead of giving teams the same look that they continue to destroy. |

Main thing they just dont do well after three games is defend the 3 point line. Time and time again the opposition is getting quality looks. They overhelp on their rotations alot. Another thing that stands out is the team falls for pump fakes like crazy. Lilliard, Harden and Aldridge feasted off pump fakes. Either they aren't reading the scouting reports or they just aren't disciplined or both. The offense will sort itself out but the inability to get stops in crunch time is a huge weakness right now. |
