I finally got around to watching this last night and watched the first two episodes. I thought it was really great. Fires on all cylinders for sure. Well written, great performances, score is fantastic and it's the visually stunning (what they must spend to recreate Birmingham England 100 years ago has to be astronomical).
For those who don't know it, it centers on a crime family run by a collection of brothers who are decorated WWI veterans (with the requisite issues with PTSD) in the years immediately after the war. It focuses on the lead brothers desires to expand their criminal reach and activities beyond being their bookmaking business and the politics of doing so against rival criminal empires and gang families - punctuated by the efforts of a police inspector tasked by Winston Churchill to crush the family.
Anyway, I'm hooked. It's truly gritty and interesting. I'm going to be binge watching this one over the next week or so to get caught up. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

I have heard it is really good....but I kept putting it off....then I recently learned Tom Hardy (may be my favorite actor) left the show, and that diminished my enthusiasm to binge the first few seasons.

Cillian Murphy is worth watching all on his own. And Sam Neill is great as well. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

I will get to it at some point....man, I just feel like there is getting to be too much "must watch" television shows....or better described shows I still watch that I should have walked away from a season or 2 ago. I still need to get around to watching Jack Ryan. For years of my life, I watched only two shows....The Sopranos and Big Brother....then HBO and Showtime began to make solid shows....then AMC, FX, etc. etc. Netflix, Amazon....

Yeah, my list of shows I want to start watching is pretty much insurmountable. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

I watched the first 2 or 3 seasons and it is really good. I just haven't had much time for tv lately so haven't kept up but that's not due to it not being a good show. Murphy is top notch and Tom Hardy joins the cast at some point too.

Love Peaky. I too didn't watch for a long time then few months ago watched every season. Great performances, obviously, with Murphy, but then Arthur...ARTHUR! Such a great character. And the evolution of the gang and people over the seasons is awesome too. I did find myself randomly yelling at times, like when I'd do the dishes or something, "COUHTESY OF DA PEAKY BLINDERS!" My wife would shake her head.
Other show I never watched and just binged in a few weeks: The Americans. So frickin' good.

I couldn't get past the first few episodes of that one. Way too contrived feeling. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know
