I said years ago when it was apparent the Lakers would fire Byron and we were hypothetically thinking of coaches , I felt that the best case scenario for us was Luke staying in Golden State and continuing to learn the ropes of how to coach for another 3-4 seasons while we went and got Atkinson or Messina whom would help us build a strong foundation over the next 3-5 years while our kids came into our own, so that when they were ready to take the next leap, that if Messina or Atkinson couldn't get us there, that is the time you bring in a guy like Walton. Who.. like Kerr.. is a motivator, but has to have other people handle the X's and O's and lay out that foundation to make it work while he does the coaching. It's why Kerr had Gentry, it's why Phil had Winters.
Coaches like Phil and Kerr very rarely would take on a rebuilding situation, they are looking for a situation that is 'one or two tweaks' away and then implement what they bring to an already solid team.
The closest Phil ever came to that was when he came back to the Lakers during Kobe's "dark years". However Kobe was also the best player on the planet, so there's that too.
There's a reason Kerr said no to New York and yes to the Warriors and why it turned out the best for him.
Luke was never the guy you put on a rebuilding team, he's at best a guy you get 3-5 years down the line when he's had more grooming as a coach when your team is 1-2 tweaks away from being a solid contender in the West.
Again... bowing to fan demand and the fact they'd have crucified any coach we got that WASN'T Luke cause they were all bought into him holding a clipboard for a Warriors team that could run itself by that point cause Draymond liked him.
The time has come to stop that. The time has come to get rid of Luke, tell him to get some seasoning elsewhere for another 3-5 years. While we get an ACTUAL Coach like Messina or even Blatt. ALSO.. some ACTUAL assistants would be nice.
Blatt was technically 'learning on the job' too.. but compare his resume to Luke's and you'll see the difference in levels.
Luke has had half a season experience being a coach in the NBA, and his only experience managing it was half a season in Golden State, and watching at a college.
He's the least experienced person we could have gotten for the job, and he's on one of the youngest teams in the league. WHAT DID EVERYONE THINK WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!?

No words can express my frustration with this loss.
Just that it actually hurts in some strange way...not sure why, 9-13 wasn't much better but it does
Kuz did play more and shot more just not there tonight as usual
But last 5 minutes just seemed Lakers started doing silly TO and long range shots for the most part
I've got nothing at this moment. I need a stiff drink |

Not like his garbage ass team is doing much better |
Maybe he's not so good after all. Or is Melo weighing that team down? We're only one game behind the Thunder. |
The Heat were what, 12-12 when Lebron first joined the team? They’ll get better as the season goes on. |
Heat were garbage when Lebron joined them. Thunder were a playoff contender last season. |

Kuzma needs to be back in the starting lineup. He needs to pass the ball every once in a while though.
Lonzo needs to stay aggressive. Channel that inner lavar and bring some confidence. Played solid hirst half then fell off
Brook might need some dnp cd
Randle needs to be smarter in the offense.
Ingram is having 1st option problems. Between choosing to score or make a play as well as drinbling into traffic.
Clarkson keep doin what you do in o but be better in d |

Like I said. Luke holds this team back. Keep defending the guy. He's NOT an NBA caliber coach and is wasting our time while he learns on the job but refuses to acknowledge the things he lacks as a coach or does wrong. |
Well these are more of the lost years. I doubt Luke is the coach if they miraculously sign an allstar or two. Jimbo/Mitch era has made this rebuild alot harder than it should be. |
The Jimbo era let Quin Snyder, MDA, and Messina slip away while keeping MB, Byron, and Lewwwwwke....disgusting. |
The Lakers had Messina and Snyder on their coaching staff and Steve Clifford as defensive assistant when Mike Brown was here but all Lakers fans did was scream "WE WANT PHIL!!"

Luke needs to stop saying he is proud of the team in every post game presser. |

Think about this too.
Let's say Boogie actually is considering us this off-season. If he goes and asks his brother Julius what kind of coach Luke is... what kind of answer do you think he's getting? |
Well, if Maginka's smart, they let Lebron choose the coach. |
LeBron's not coming here. |
How do u know? |
He probably doesn't know, but a smart guess would be that he probably would prefer a team that's on the rise.. Houston and Philly makes more sense then coming to a team that has a obsession of not progressing. |

Luke did a masterful job of killing Lonzo's rhythm. Started the game pretty good took him out. Left him on the bench for long periods of time. The guy has absolutely no clue when it comes to in-game management. |
this and the Randle-Nance sub were absolutely stupid decisions. couldnt believe when i saw Lonzo leaving the game while KCP was having his worst game in a while
JC-KCP-BI-Kuz-JR has to be the lineup to close out games, or Ball instead of KCP if hes having a bad game. |

And with Mr. Midnight Society, Captain End Every Sentence with "Like Big Game James and Byron Scott" and Ms. #STAYD12 it doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Good point. I'm getting sick and tired of all these damned missed free throws. There's no reason for that from professional basketball players. |

If you think they were tired tonight just wait until tomorrow
(however I think they will play very hard vs Houston) |

Well it makes sense when most of these (bleep) can't hit a open 3. |

Yeah..most of this team is comprised of professional basketball players that are still kids. So that doesn't help either. |
