According to Jim Hill, this is the first time UCLA has been rated #1 since 1995.

Don't care too much about being #1 in November.

Give me a #1 ranking at the start of March...

... and give me a #1 ranking after we win the whole thing, baby.

GO BRUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you realize how pathetic you sound? UCLA brings in Kevin Love next year. UCLA has possiblyt he best coach in the nation. UCLA will be absolutely LOADED at all 5 positions, while all you can say is "OJ." If you haven't noticed it yet, it takes more than 5 guys to win a basketball game. OJ will get his a$$ handed to him by the rest of the Pac-10 and UCLA next year.

^^^FtA -- Let him rant all he wants. If they are willing to bet their hopes on another guy named OJ then let them.

I'll bank our hopes on a few more reliable things, like...

-- COACH BEN HOWLAND, who has gotten us to an AP #1 ranking in less than 4 years, something Lavin could never do, and who helped lay the foundation for his last program (Pitt) to be in the Top 5 under the guidance of his former assistant, and a more-than-capable young head coach on his own merits, Jaime Dixon.

-- ARRON AFFLALO -- A rock-solid strong shooting guard with an improving floor game, determined defense, honest-to-heaven leadership skills and relentless work ethic.

-- DARREN COLLISON -- With the end-to-end speed befitting a son of sprinters, a steadily improving point guard with hustle and quickness by the bucketload.

-- LUC RICHARD MBAH A MOUTE -- A humble young man with uncanny athletic gifts, a great desire to learn and improve, and blessed with a unique combination of large hands, deft finishing touch, underrated strength and agility.

-- OUR DEFENSE -- In a town known for high-octane offense, UCLA almost won it all with DEFENSE last year. Add to our team a little more experience all-around, and hopefully about 40 fewer games lost to injury, and look out below.

GO BRUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!

UCLA is getting great exposure. Staying at #1 for a while can only help recruiting.

UCLA already has two major guards committed from SoCal in 2008 - Jerime Anderson out of Anaheim Hills and Malcolm Lee. They are hot on the trails for the top 2G in the country, Jrue Holiday, and also on Forward Luke Babbitt.

In 2009, they are probably the leaders for the super talented Wear twins from out of Mater Dei. All these kids are 3-4 year guys (except Holiday) and they all have the academics. UCLA basketball is back.
