I like Mardy Collins, but I'm concerned about his lack of athleticism. I dig his B-Ball IQ and his court sense, but with a roster built with players like Walton, Vujacic, McKie and Cook, we REALLY need to increase our speed and athelticism - and in this years draft, there are A LOT of amazing, super-explosive athletes - and we need one of them!!!
James White
Shannon Brown
Guillermo Diaz
Maurice Ager
If we draft Mardy Collins at 26, I'd be pretty disapointed. Don't get me wrong - I don't hate him. He'd be a solid, safe pick who could give us stable minutes at either guard spot, but he's not really going to add anything that we already don't have - and he's not very exciting.

JJ Reddick. Heard this morning on the radio on my way into work that he has a herniated disk in his back that is pressing on a nerve. He received a cortisone shot and had been pain free for a week and says he won't need surgery. He's damaged goods going in. I wouldn't want to risk whether he'll be healthy or not.
Say no to JJ Reddick! _________________ Welcome to OverreactionGround.net, where a single possession can make you the savior of mankind or a total moron. -Ozendorph |

I would be disappointed if we picked Farmar, Augustine, or Collins. I would feel indifferent to Reddick. He would be considered a good value at #26, however, I've never been enamoured with his game. He lacks defense. |

^^i pretty much agree with you on that list, but collins wouldn't be bad however I think there will be a couple better than him still on the board. |

With the first round pick I would be disappointed if we drafted: Redick, Paul Davis, Freeland or Pittsnogle.

Why??
I love Hicks.
How can you not love a player who plays as HARD as he plays??
He's just a WARRIOR!! A BEAST!! The guy is "energy" and "passion" personified.
You don't think we need a player like that? Pair him up with Ronny off our bench, and let those two just go out there and shake things up with their passion, activity and energy!! Man, THAT'S how you build a "bench mob!" I'm sick of all our low-energy players (Cook, Walton, Smush).
But I also agree with everyone else...

Kevin Augustine.
I don't even mind players like Steve Novak, Gerry McNamera...
As long as:
A) There are no better players available (but there usually are)
B) It's the 51st pick. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I'm still down with Collins. 6'6" true point that can play defense.
Ok, he's slow, and he hasn't shot well in workouts. But at #26 not everything boils down to one on one workouts and athleticism, it's just part of the puzzle. |

Hear differently about Collins. Heard that at Temple he was a good interceptor up top, and that Chaney liked his D at the point. Hmmm...
DON'T WANT:
James Augustine, 6'10", Illinois -- Last thing I want is another Illini big who doesn't play big; guy can't even average 1 block a game.
Steve Novak, 6'10", Marquette -- Plays no D, one-dimensional otuside shooter, and doesn't lile to mix it up low. Sound familiar?

Collins doesn't have great lateral quickness. He does have good length and he's strong. There are PGs in the L that have problems with that, namely Nash and Bibby. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
