I don't like to lose, but I'm glad we are no longer getting blown out.
The tank is on. We have no shot at the playoffs. We would have to go 28-9 to finish with 44 wins and have an outside shot at making the postseason, and that definitely isn't happening.
If that is the case, then I hope we can get a good draft position. I don't want to outright tank, but I'm not going to fall apart if we lose so long as we're not routinely getting blown out. |

Exactly. If we lose because we just don't have it then so be it but intentionally tanking is a non-starter for me. |

Don't forget the championship coach who hasn't won a championship, Pau. He's the guy who left in Ryan Kelly to defend Carmelo Anthony in the fourth, while the game was still winnable. |

Who cares? If Pau gave consistent effort throughout the season and wasn't missing games because he was "sick," we might be in a different situation.
Hard to take Pau seriously about this, in my mind. |

It's become pretty clear he was actually very sick then. His play to start the season was poor overall, but decent as a table setter after an offseason where he recuperated from knee surgery and came in out of shape. He was putting together good strings of games as he got himself into shape just before he got the respiratory infection, he got it, couldn't play a couple of games (where we really needed him, unfortunately), and wasn't very good when he could play. Trudell then told everyone before a game even started that Pau was feeling much better and his voice wasn't raspy anymore, and Pau has been putting up some pretty good numbers ever since. |

His effort has been inconsistent this year, whether or not you choose to accept the "sick" excuse, which I don't accept.
A player who gets run off the court and out-hustled by guys like Faried or out-muscled against Mosgov might not be the best guy to talk about effort or defense. And a player who is missing games with respiratory illnesses that some might have doubted also might not be the best guy to talk about effort.
I called Pau "Mr First Quarter" earlier this season. He's gotten better in bringing effort for more of the game lately, but he's still not exactly Mr Effort, either.
There's a reason Phil punched Pau in the chest a few years ago, and a reason why Pau was labeled soft after the 2008 postseason. Neither of those reasons had much to do with Pau being the epitome of "effort."
Pau can still be useful on offense for a team, hopefully a team that isn't the Lakers. His defense is weak, his effort is sporadic and he's become something of a whiner recently, in my view. I respect everything he's done for the team, but I won't be sorry when he's gone. Particularly if he continues to say things like this.
Given the lack of effort Pau has shown at various times this year, hearing him say he's "pissed off" about other people's lack of effort is a joke. He simply doesn't have the right to say that given his own lack of effort this year. Not in my book, anyways. |

50 cent, Kobe and Merryl Streep. what a random and akward combination.
Btw, i'm only 27 and live in Europe, so i didnt follow that much of the Lakers growing up and all, but this is the worse Laker team that i've seen play. What a dumb basketball team.
Everyone can see that our only bright spot right now is Pau's inside game and even then we still run n gun most of the time and refuse to play any kind of defense. Frustrating, but if the point is to lose games, then we're doing pretty pretty good |
