All of this while playing good defense.
Yeah, he's terrible. |
How many shot attempts does he take? not many so the 50% does not surprise me, on another hand anyone can look good defensively guarding against the other opponents scrub players.
I wanna see how he does against actual bench players... |

He's a scrub, playing with a scrub lineup against another scrubs. Buy yeah, i am saying for a while that i would like to see him play in that #3 spot with the first team, even if only a couple of minutes |

Of course he's not taking more than 3 shots a game but that's not why I brought out the stats. Nothing you have provided so far proves that he's playing badly and not worthy of making the opening day roster.
Anyone can see that he's been playing good defense for this team.

I saw a lot of smiling out there, and had a sense both these teams had a pretty good time during their trip. It looked to me like both sides realized this is a preseason game. I didn't see that heated competition, technical fouls, players tangling and broken up fights out there. I didn't see players really ticked off if they messed up. They played loose, like they had nothing to lose. Particularly Golden State, which may explain getting white hot from way outside like they did.
It looked to me like a bunch of guys who had a good time together and were there to play some bb, get some practice in, let their coaches work through a few things, and entertain the crowd.
Gasol wasn't out there at all when the Lakers got blown out. The Hill/Kaman combo wasn't working well, and Kelly is not familiar with the offense yet, which led to quite a few of Blake's and Farmar's turnovers. Hill had a very off game to go with a sub-par preseason. Sorry to see this, but it's all going to give MDA something to go on when figuring out regular season rotations. From that respect I could give a crap about the final score, it's just interesting to see where each of the players are at this stage. |

Harris created the turnover in the final seconds of the second Denver game, sealing the win for the Lakers. He did so with excellent pressure.
And yes, Harris HAS been defending NBA regulars, not just scrubs. Other coaches have focused far more on closing games with their starters/rotation players than the Lakers have. |

Dont remember seeing that, but ok. Hopefully we'll have a chance to take a closer look at him against the Jazz, now that Landry's going to be cut? |

To be honest, Harris is playing better basketball than both John and Henry so far. Yes, Henry's first two pre-season games were great, but he has struggled ever since. Henry has 15 turnovers this preseason and forcing up a lot of shots. Today he has played within himself and still playing good defense for this Laker team. I think Lakers will need both Henry's and Harris' defense as this Laker season beings. |

The could really use him when Wes Johnson is struggling. |

Wow. That game got UGLY after the starters were pulled with five to go in the third, though to be fair even the starters were getting their asses drummed in the third.
Good game from Pau. We really need him to exert himself more on d, though. And he needs to learn to move off the ball more and cut to help Nash out. Kaman does a better job of making himself available on the way to the hoop.
Much better, more Jordan Hill like game from Hill today. If that's all we get from him, a few points and a grip of boards, I'll take it.
My only worry is that by this point we should be figuring out our lineups and how we want to finish games, and we have nothing established yet. Too many injuries to start, I guess. |

Just watched the game. Wesley Johnson is bad. Marcus Landry should have been cut a while ago. Ryan Kelly is not athletic at all. Nick Young is a baller and he guarded Iggy well. |

I've got nothing against seeing Harris get some D-League time myself, depending on how deep in the rotation he ends up. I think he's fine on defense, but he does lack experience, and if he's deep bench he'd be better off spending some time on the court than watching in a suit. He could also work on expanding his offensive skills in a low-pressure situation while he's at it. |
