Don't you know the US's motto?Borrow it, then spend it all, go over budget, borrow more and then not pay it back? Yup, that's how we do...

Only 20 years to build?
And this is not with the delays which will inevitably happen.
The projected costs for this blew up nearly 3x the costs when it went to the voting booth back in 2008 and who knows what the final costs will be...Plus it was originally scheduled to finish in 2020 when they proposed this to the voters. Not a surprise that support for has dropped...
By the time they finish building this I will be close to retiring...
A lot of people were excited by this when this project was on the voting booth in 2008...Unfortunately, I think most people realized that they just gave the politicians a blank check to build this train. Not to mention, they managed to tell us that the train wouldn't be finished until 2030 at the earliest, not 2020 as they initially sold the project to the public....I'm afraid its gonna be another fiasco like the Big Dig, except on a much bigger scale.
How pathetic is our government? How long does it take to build a train? By the time this train is build, teleportation may be invented, then the train is worthless, like most government investments.
I read on wiki that the LA to SF section won't be done until 2030 at the earliest though
wow i will be darn near retirement status by then. lol. _________________ LAL4K3RS wrote: He(Kobe) is the white haired kung fu master that you realize is older than dirt but can still kick your arse when in a sitting position drinking a nice herbal tea.

I can't see the future but I could guess at what type of massive, bloated mess that project was going to be back in 2008 and that's why I voted against it back then.
