Horse owned by Lakers Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol set to run at Betfair Hollywood Park

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — A horse co-owned by Los Angeles Lakers stars Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol is set to run in Sunday’s first race at Betfair Hollywood Park.

Siempre Mo is trained by Doug O’Neill, who guided I’ll Have Another to recent victories in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness.

Kobe Will Not Win Another Title with Lakers: Fan Reaction

The Los Angeles Lakers are in a difficult position. They have the talent to be a playoff team for the next few seasons. However, they are not necessarily among the elite of the NBA. They can certainly make offseason moves, but the Lakers do not have a lot of options. Therefore, I think it may be safe to suggest that Kobe Bryant is not going to win another championship with the Lakers. Kobe has his rings, but he will not win any more in Los Angeles.

Lack of options
The Lakers have a number of holes. They need an upgrade at point guard and small forward. They could use several contributors off the bench. In addition, the Lakers need to decide if Andrew Bynum has the maturity and drive to be the type of player that Los Angeles can build a team around. Unfortunately, the Lakers have sizable contracts, no cap space, and no draft picks that could be used on young talent. Reloading will very difficult.

L.A. Lakers: Can Jordan Hill Replace Pau Gasol in the Lakers' Starting Lineup?

Many people assume that the Los Angeles Lakers will trade forward Pau Gasol before the start of the 2012-13 regular season, but it's rarely discussed how the Lakers will fill the void created by Gasol's departure.

Gasol may not have inspired any confidence among Lakers fans with his passionless performance in the 2012 NBA playoffs, but it's hard to ignore his importance and value to the franchise in the past and the present.

Lest we forget, it was the deal to acquire Gasol that immediately re-energized the Lakers and subsequently helped them reach three consecutive finals series and win two championships in the process.

Last season, Gasol was relegated to the Lakers' third scoring option due to Andrew Bynum's emergence and trouble adjusting to the new offensive scheme of coach Mike Brown. But Gasol was still arguably the best third option in the NBA.

I think Hill can.. He's a hard worker.. getting boards.. hustle points.. toughness.. something we lacked. He needs to develop a go-to move and/or jump shot that's reliable.

trading Pau should give us the ability to fill those holes we have.. lack of bench.. shooters..

Hill is a one note player. He can rebound, but that's about it. He's undersized at 6'8, which is fine if you have some offensive skill like Milsap or Big Baby, but he doesn't.
