Oh he deserves to be critisized for some of his moves. No arguments there.
But some will bash his EVERY move.
Every single one.
While Mitch wasted money on Vlade and McKie - Who would you rather have with the MLE that is doing better than Smush?
Daniels - Long, Bad K
Watson - Denver is shopping him madly
There's times to pony up and pay a FA - and then there's a time not to.
I have yet to see Mitch let a FA who deserved the money sought - walk. |

I've worked in media. In terms of credibility on "scoops":
1) (tie) Newspapers & major wire services
2) Television
3) Radio News
4) (tie) Internet & Talk Radio
Note: There's a huge gap between items 3 and 4. |

Wolf,
In general, I agree with you. But to answer your question re who the Lakers could hae instead of Smush:
Duhon. Maybe Mo Williams.
Once again, just one example. And I agree with you, for the most part.
The thing is, if Kwame was being picked up THROUGH 2008, the Lakers could have offered MLE for 3 years, not just two... which means a slighlty longer deal and maybe a better caliber of player. _________________ You tryin' to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball? |

Duhon was restricted. I read Bulls match everything that's 3 years at the MLE.
Duhon didn't even bother signing elsewhere he was happy in Chi and the money they offered him.
Mo is a FA in 2007.
BTW - I like both these players more than Smush too.

It's funny how these asswipes keep ragging on Mitch and saying this and that won't work.
Anyone remotely watching NBA basketball in the last 6 years knows that Isiah took over a team overburndened by bad contracts from Scott Leymen. I swear that guy was trying to undo all the wrong that ever happened to Black America with the contracts he was handing out to some of these players (yes, I'm black so cool out). I knew I should have played basketball. You realize how rich I'd be with a Scott Layden contract? I should also add he gave Travis Knight huge money too.
If this proposal is true realize that it is one of the few offers that Isiah has/will recieved that didn't take on an already large contract or a free agent that he was going to have to give big money immediately or in the near future.
This trade gives him flexibility in either trading these guys again or cutting them at the end of the year. Devean might be a Larry Brown type guy and finally flourish. Slava being injured looks like trade fodder.

Larry Brown told Isiah among other things he wants a Small Forward that can play at guard and a Small Forward that can play at PF.
Hmmm .... You think Larry Brown would trade anyone on his roster for LO?
It just sucks they have noone I really would want for that kind of trade. |

Mo is a great triangle PG... pass first, but can and DOES knock down the open shot with regularity. A great guard to put next to Kobe is the Hinrich's of the world remain with their current team.
I didn't know the Bulls would match that far out... my bad.
Mo Williams might be attainable... TJ Ford and Michael Redd ahead of him, and big money committed to Bobby Simmons and even bigger money eventually coming to Andrew Bogut... I don't see the Bucks making a long term offer to Williams. _________________ You tryin' to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball? |

You missed my point completely.
Divac and McKie were short signings. They were bad but short.
AD was a long signing with a player that had health concerns and wanted to be paid 7 million in his 30's. The Wiz are not happy with him at all. Same with Denver and Watson. They regret those deals - but are stuck with them for a while now ....
There's still a possibilty McKie's K is salvaged. If that happens, then it would be a good signing.

I won't argue that McKie and Divac were poor signings, and I wasn't wild about either. But AD and Watson were out of reach. The wouldn't have taken the Laker mid-level offer, as the years were limited by the 2007 plan. That plan came from the top, and it made sense. |

You are right.
I forgot that. But what happened? Bulls matched like they said right ... Toronto wasted their time.
The Lakers would have too. |

Actually I think the Lakers erred badly with Chris Duhon, and said so at the time. Since they were constrained by the 2007 plan, it made perfect sense to overpay Duhon with the full MLE (for two years plus one option year), in hopes that the Bulls wouldn't have matched. |

1. Duhon signed the offer sheet with the Raptors so the Bulls could match. The Raptors new this going in.
2. Most of us expected to really get 1 good year from McKie. We also expected it to be this year. If it happens next year, we've gotten our money's worth.
3. Is there any PG that can guard another now that you can't use your hands on the perimeter? If not, stick with Smush / Sasha and let them develop. The triangle does not have to have a traditional PG. _________________ Stop crying and start doing.

You know the only deal Mitch would make would include a player the Lakers can really use for a 2nd rounder in 3234. _________________ Agent 62 |

Knicks just traded for Jalen Rose. If they wanted cap space, wouldnt of it had been wise to just keep Davis and let his contract exprie this summer?
Plus Thomas gave Jerome James a big contrct this summer. He also traded for a worthless Q Rich who was considered overpaid as it is(why the suns traded him.) Thomas surely aint helping the matter himself is he? _________________ Pain is temporary, at the end of pain is success... |
