I agree with probasketballnews.com on today's power rankings:
13. Los Angeles Lakers (24-23): Thankfully, we'll all get to watch Kobe Bryant in the playoffs -- but Lakers would probably be better off in long run with another lottery pick.
Check out what he says about the Wizards -- it's probably how Kobe feels too.

Good point. There's just something about the playoffs that makes you feel better. |

Playoffs all the way man. I dont want the Lakers to have that lottery mentality every season like the Clippers use to have. _________________ Pain is temporary, at the end of pain is success... |

I agreed that we are probably destined to another lottery and another summer of hearing lame excuses from kupcake and buss.
Kobe is great. However, his support cast is too inconsistent. Unless Brown or Odom step up, it is not going to happen.
Look at the teams below us. They are playing well while we are regressing. Not a good sign.
utah/golden State/ minnesota. Minnesota are making moves to get in the playoffs. the Lakers do not.
Houston is really coming on strong. With Yao, be careful. |

Yea, I like Bynum, but I don't trust the Lakers in the draft considering the current team. Plus teams play to win, Do Lakers fans really want to see the Lakers out of the playoffs two years in a row? |

We'll make the playoffs people. Calm down. We will lose in the 1st round, but we'll make the playoffs.
I'll bet anyone in here who says they wont make the playoff this year and the winner has to buy the other person playoff tickets to the Lakers this year! |

Just because I don't share the same optimism of making the playoff, it doesn't change the fact that I am a Laker fan.
When they win, I am happy. When they lose (especially three times in a row) I am upset.
Over the years, I have learned to separate fantasy from reality. I recognize the greatness of Kobe but I also can't ignore the inconsistent play of our supporting cast. No one has stepped up on "consistent" basis. I also can't ignore the questionable decisions by our GM.
I would love for Kobe to lead this team to a championship and shove it in the face of Shaq, ESPN, Fat Ass Barkley, etc.
But, the reality is that we are closer to the lottery than to a championship. The reality is that last month was a special month and you cannot expect Kobe to repeat such a performance on a monthly basis. Teams have and will adjust on the defense end. It is a guarantee.
If no one steps up like in the last three games, we will continue to lose.
Here, the question was playoff or lottery. I said Lottery because what I have seen over the last nine games and the injuries. |

I believe it will take a top ten pick to retain the pick. If it's #11, the Lakers lose the pick and also the Playoffs. Missing the Playoffs twice in a row doesn't make the Lakers any more attractive a landing spot for free agents. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. It's not that great a draft this season, so they might as well try for the Playoffs. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." ~~Martin Luther King Jr.~~ |

Lottery might not be so good since the salary of the rookie will count towards 2007. Plus class 2007 is not that strong anyways. As long as Kobe is healthy, there is always a chance we move into the second round. If we are the 6th or 7th seed, we play the McNuggets or the Suns. I smell an upset.
GO LAKERS! |

You're giving yourself too much credit.
You were called a troll because you make lame one-line comments, and never present anything resembling a well-thought post. |

Playoffs, barely, then a quick exit in the 1st round.
If the lakers barely miss the playoffs, then they lose the lottery pick anyway......it's only top 10 protected, right?

Playoffs just barely, it would be better for the team but more importantly for the organization. Besides how bad will it make Minnesota look when KG can't take them to the promise land. |

In order to have a successful 2007 plan, to make th eplayoffs is essential. No stars would be interested in coming to a lottery team ... |
