Traditionally, a team calls a timeout when the opposing team has a player that's hot - just won't miss from anywhere on the floor.
But not in this game. Phil pretty much took the wind out of Kobe's sails from the get-go. Sad to see this happen, despite a win or a loss.
However, this should shut Gasol up for the rest of the season. We now know that it's not a lack of touches that prevents Gasol from being a scoring force - it's the guy he sees in the mirror every morning that keeps him from doing what we've been used to seeing. |
That's exactly how I feel. The game was lost in the second quarter with that 8 minute rest that Kobe got. Resting the hot hand is just so unprecedented in today's game, there was absolutely no reason for it. Phil is slowly losing his touch in these games. I don't care if Kobe is "injured", if he's fine enough to score 21 in a quarter, he's fine enough to play majority of the game. |
I think that is why so much of the blame tonight is on Pau. He is supposed to be the 2nd constant apart from Kobe. You tout yourself as option 1B, you better bring it every night. You don't get to mail it in. |
Amen my gold and forum blue brothers. Gasol was given a chance to show his stuff without Kobe getting in his way. Phil did him a favor (or disservice) by removing the element that was obviously going to takeover the game.
Gasol didn't step up, and he should understand now why he doesn't get the touches he claims he doesn't get.
Dear Gasol,
There is a reason why you dont' get the ball much.
Best Regards,
Wickedblue
P.S. If you missed the point of my message; I forgive you because it's not the only thing you've missed this season. |

But which player is more valuable to the Lakers? Please start a thread to determine this. |

I'll sleep decently tonight. |
And that loud mouth KG ejected, it takes some of the sting off from this one that's for sure. |
I love that the Cs laid an egg also.
Both teams are going to pissed and ready to rumble on Sunday. |
Don't forget Doc Rivers hitting the showers too |

Jesus...we are not winning a title anytime soon. There is no way this Laker team can get past Spurs, Dallas in playoffs or beat Celtics Magic and especially the Miami Heat in the Finals....Its sad to say but when Miami is heathy Lebron and Co. can be blind and still beat this 2011 team. |

Hope the fellas take it seriously, as Kings have been playing much better ball lately. |
I saw this one coming. Wish I had put some money on the Kings+ the points. |

Just like the Milwuakee / Miami debacle the Queens/Chowderhead debacle proves this team has no heart, passion or desire (outside of Kobe). Pau Gasol should be a new brand of tampon. |
