Great game from Ammo. Really encouraging to see the way he was moving out there. Finally has some lift under his jumper. Should make a big difference for him.
Also thought Gaffney played well. Not a lot of PT for him, but he did a lot of good things while out there. Looks really long and active. Seems to have a real knack for being in the right spot to make a defensive play. Does the little things you look for in a deep-bench role player.
Elonu looks like a nice physical specimen, but maybe a little too raw. Didn't seem to have much of an offensive game, back-to-the-basket or otherwise. Doesn't box out on rebounds, just tries to out-jump people. Nice block on that one play, but needs to work on his rebounding technique to be a more complete player. My instinct says he doesn't make the team if he doesn't show something more in the next week. _________________ “This goes far beyond paychecks” |

It would be nice if the NBA could institute a 1 or 2 man practice squad that can practice with the main NBA team but gets paid a smaller salary that doesn't count against the cap or luxury tax. This is somewhat in effect for teams that have a D-league affiliate but I don't believe those players can practice with the NBA team unless they're already on the team's 13 to 15 man roster and just allocated to the D-league temporarily.
Also anyone know anything about this Ben McCauley guy? Didn't see the summer league game but 24 points and 15 rebounds including 5 offensive? |

JUST_MING, thanks for the stat line:
Adam Morrison F 32:47 MIN, 9-17 FG, 1-3 3PT, 5-5 FT, 5 REB, 3 AST, 0 STL, 1 TO, 2 BLK, 24 PTS
Tony Gaffney F 22:37 MIN, 2-4 FG, 0-0 3PT, 2-2 FT, 3 REB, 3 AST, 2 STL, 0 TO, 1 BLK, 6 PTS
Ben McCauley C 32:02 MIN, 12-19 FG, 0-0 3PT, 0-0 FT, 15 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 4 TO, 0 BLK, 24 PTS
Mustafa Shakur G 19:50 MIN, 0-5 FG, 0-1 3PT, 2-2 FT, 1 REB, 1 AST, 2 STL, 2 TO, 0 BLK, 2 PTS
Alan Anderson G 13:53 MIN, 0-6 FG, 0-1 3PT, 0-0 FT, 1 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 0 TO, 0 BLK, 0 PTS
Taylor Rochestie F 20:10 MIN, 4-4 FG, 0-0 3PT, 0-0 FT, 1 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 1 TO, 0 BLK, 8 PTS
Chinemelu Elonu C 14:20 MIN, 0-1 FG, 0-0 3PT, 2-2 FT, 3 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 1 TO, 0 BLK, 2 PTS
David Monds C 14:47 MIN, 7-10 FG, 0-0 3PT, 3-3 FT, 3 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 0 TO, 0 BLK, 17 PTS
Looks like the offense was basically only 3 players, Ammo and the two centers... The stat line lists Monds as a CENTER, but the Laker roster lists him as a 6-8 FORWARD... So what's up with that?... I have to say considering Monds had 17 points in less than 15 minutes... ... that's pretty impressive...
Good to hear Ammo's game is clicking... hope it continues... _________________ Rule = win titles

This is only summer league, so the players are for the most part not NBA-ready, but if Ammo can continue to shoot over 50%, drop 24, block 2 shots, get 5 rebounds, set up other players for scores all night long, and shut down the other team's man down low with the clock ticking down THEN nail the clutch free throws to put it away like he did tonight.... wow what a great way to show scouts you can make it in the NBA. What a GREAT game for this guy considering the situation he's in right now. I hope he keeps it up, maybe does the same in D-league, and who knows?
Even if he can't crack the rotation with the Lakers (and I think Sasha would have to lay an egg for him to do so) I'd sure like to see him make a regular rotation somewhere and prove wrong everyone who hates on him. |

While I agree that summer league in general is not full of NBA level players, the Raptors summer league team has a lot of NBA players. |
