Don't hate on the guy for being honest. Frankly, I agree with him. The Lakers will lose if they continue to play the way they have been playing. |

Also, I like how everyone on here loves to call LeBron "overhyped". That's BS, look at his team, his supporting players are nowhere near as good as the one's Kobe has. Yet they've been able to demolish all teams including major players from the West and the top teams in their own conference. Overhyped my ass, thats just what blind Kobe homers love to say. |
I'd have to agree with that. |

If bron team mates are better hell why do they always perform better than kobes teammates then ?
The truth is his teammates are better than kobe teammates. |

This is a huge statement game as not only do Lakers need to prove something to themselves but they need to show the rest of the league that they are still a force in the league after two losses in a row. Three straight losses would hurt and a win would even things with Cleveland and Orlando for the best record.
I hope Kobe comes out guarding LeBrick like how he was guarding Wade and plays excellent ball denial again. We also need Pau and Bynum to step up! |
the lakers dont need to prove anything to themselves with this win or lose.
they've proved to the world that it will take 3 hurt players, and Bias officiating in key moments down the stretch to beat the lakers at this point in the season.
the only statement game we have is when we play boston in boston and cavs at brons home. thats it. |

if phil is smart. i would have pau running point from the high post on ben. let ben play all the defense in the world. AWAY from the rim. leave drew downlow with varejao. now they will at some point have to switch that. big ben guarding drew. then and only then i'm cool with drew being at the high post. taking the jumpers given to him not trying to force anything. ben is quicker then drew, and i can see a charge call a mile away. or a steal by ben. |

Exactly pal.... The Zebras won´t allow us to play any kind of D on Lebron.
remember the non call on Ariza at the end of the game against Spurs? expect Lebron to get those calls all the night..
I hope we can pull the w....
I say LA wins 98-92. |

They're missing Z and West. Not to mention we're in LA, and Cleveland isn't nearly as good on the road. No excuse for Lakers not to win this game. |

Correction, if Fish guards Mo Williams, Cavs win, if Ariza, Lakers win. |

|
|
Quote: | Bryant said after Sunday's practice that he plans to guard James, a fellow U.S. Olympian, adding that he relishes the challenge.
"I will definitely," Bryant said when asked if he would check James.
"I have to guard him. I'm a little undersized. I'll probably match up against him."
Coach Phil Jackson wasn't so sure he would line up Bryant against James. Jackson could try others against James, who usually does not guard Bryant.
"LeBron has never really guarded Kobe, but he has at times," Jackson said. "Kobe's wanted to guard LeBron, but we haven't always wanted him to guardLeBron. Last year, I thought Luke (Walton) did a really good job on (James). We have a variety of guys who can guard him."
You also can expect Jackson to ask Trevor Ariza and/or Lamar Odom to handle the assignment of guarding James. Walton might not get a chance because he's been sidelined for more than two weeks because of a foot injury.
"He's still feeling his way a little bit," Jackson said of Walton.
When it gets late, if the score is tight, you can expect Bryant to demand to guard James. Bryant asked to guard Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat on Jan. 11, and he blanked Wade over the final seven minutes of the Lakers' victory. |
Source
The Lakers have the potential to give LeBron the "Kobe Bryant" treatment in that they can throw a variety of defenders at him. Preferrably Ariza and LO before they put Kobe on him. I also hope that LBJ sees a heavy dose of the "strong side zone" to keep him in check. |

Didn't Lebron have 41 last time. And didn't luke defer back to Kobe when he could have taken an open shot, as a result Kobe took a forced 3 as time expired. |

why the hell does phil always dance around kobe guarding the other teams' best player? so what if kobe wastes energy on defense. we should be fine on offense without kobe getting 30 pts. we're too talented. lo, bynum, gasol should be good firepower for our offense while we cut the head off the snake so to speak
back when we had little offensive talent, i didnt want kobe guarding the other teams' best player because we needed him to carry us on offense. now it isnt like that anymore _________________ Dominating every day. |

^No doubt Krispy Kreme - we are ultra talented offensively. However I still think PJ needs to be selective about when he puts Kobe on him considering that LBJ has the refs in his back pocket. On this team I would almost be willing to see these be Kobe's priorities every game:
1. Defense
2. Facilitator
3. Scorer
Let's face it, he'll get his points regardless. But if he thinks defense first (and not just gamble for steals) we'll be lethal if his teammates follow his lead. He has to set the tone.
...but of course if his teammates are playing like bums I want to see him go into attack mode. |

Phil doesn't want Kobe guarding Lebron for the majority of the game (let's say 30 mins) because Lebron will definitely get referee treatment. More fouls on Kobe = less lethal Kobe.
More time guarding Lebron = Greater chances of drawing fouls.
I rather see Kobe on Mo Williams |

Pack the paint and let him shoot. One of their best 3-point shooters is out and so is Z, who has a nice range. |

I don't know about Kobe guarding LeBron. James is what, 50 pounds heavier and has 3 inches on him? He's also quicker. That's quite an advantage. |

LBJ is stronger than Paul Pierce, but I thought Ariza did a nice job on him. I'm thinking that Kobe and Ariza have watched film together on LBJ which should help in preparation of trying to slow him down.
OT: I'm actually more afraid of what Mo Williams will do to Fisher than what LBJ does! |

If Kobe can hold Wade to 3-15 shooting why can't he do the same to a guy whose not as quick and who has a considerably worse jumper? |
