DB, you are, without a doubt, the best Lakers recapper/analyst working today.

I missed the game because I'm out of town. Nothing on the web or ESPN brought the game to life like your Thoughts and Ratings. Thanks for all your time and effort.

Lakers had the best point differential, the highest scoring offense, and the lowest ppg allowed on defense (I think those last two might account for the first one? ), and yet, against a good team, they improved on all three numbers! Wow...

-trevor needs to start, pippen wasnt a "shooter" yet played SF in the tri
-i dont know if im delusional with the winning, but im starting to like joel
-im tired of sasha playing with his hair and leaving brooks open for 3
-the 2nd unit is more exciting than our starters, nice change of pace
-ariza to kobe kobe block on yao lamar block on artest

thanks DB, i cant believe i was nervous going into this game

Different era with no zone rules, different type of team with far less low post talent (Bulls had far more perimeter talent in their offense than low post bigman talent ala Lakers) and the main things - Scottie was a much better man defender, ballhandler, passer and creator - the latter 3 which fit the Triangle much more.

That being said Trevor is easily the MIP on the Lakers and quite frankly with him making such a big impact off the bench, at 5-0, why make a change like that?

Plus am I the only one who thinks that Farmar, Trevor and Lamar have great chemistry together?

Getting into transition plays to their strengths. You want that unit together for some runs.

Got to come up with something for our home-grown duo.

If we, as some have suggested, moved one of them into the starting lineup, wouldn't that be breaking the law?

cap mentioned bynum still doesn't have confidence in his knee.

for any of you that have had a ankle or knee injury, you know that once your physically healthy, you still have to get over the mental aspect of the injury. trusting it to do things that leave you vulnerable to another possible injury.

drew definately has been working through this part of his recovery. that's why we don't see the explosiveness. partly cuz ity's not all the way there, and partly cuz he's still hesitant to try to really explode up in trafficwith all those feet to come down on.

the last 2 games i've seen him startying to gain that trust back. when he tried to elevate and dunk on yao when coming down the lane last night was a great sight. he had the faith to go ahead and explode up to challenge yao at the rim. resulting in 2 free throws.

i think that play will go along way towards him trusting the knee more, and starting to play above the rim more and more. like a light bulb went on after that play.

it was a great sign for me to see. he's getting there. physically he's fine, it's just getting phsychologically all the way there. but he's on his way.

great recap db.

Yes, I don't think it would be wise to break the Law. If both moved to the starting lineup, that would be better. (I think I noted that Phil ran those 5 last night for a stint.)

The problem then becomes with Fish on that second unit. Who is going to create offense? You'd have to make sure Pau was out there and they could run things through him. Lamar would probably be alright since he did fine last year with that combo.

I think it's wise to leave things the way they are. Doesn't mean you can't run portions of the two lineups together, or that you can't finish with different lineups depending upon matchups and performance. It's just good for continuity to start out with the same rotations, then adapt from there.

Phil trying to find the words for Ariza's off-the-ball work. Kind of reminds me of the movie The Patriot:

Quote:
Jackson said he likes Ariza's off-ball activity, his ability to get in the lane to get to passes and tip balls.

"He's like a ghost out there," Jackson said. "Like a shadow. Just all of a sudden he shows on a screen and he's gone. He's a blip and he's away. He runs the court like that. He's a stealth player more than you'd say a person that infuses the team with energy. But his presence is certainly felt."

i see what you're saying, but you dont think Ariza will flourish as a starter? more minutes playing along side kobe cant hurt? i just dont think vlad is consistent enough to be rewarded as a starter for his shooting.

Vlade's minutes are most effective starting, much like Fisher. next year though, i could see Valde off the bench, especially if we don't re-sign Odom.

Great intro DB, didn't know you had it in you, DRAMA. Usual informed recap. Defense is what will be the determining factor in the run for the Larry O'Brien trophy this season. They started slow but the bench mob did what they've been doing all year, energize. We're looking good.
