{Original Thread Title: Has there been a game that meant more to this team than the one tonight against NO?}
I'm talking just this season of course. I remember really wanting to kill Phoenix on Christmas. And there were some others that seemed pivotal, but if we lose this one, we can pretty much kiss the # 1 spot away. Phoenix and Houston are right on our rear ends. And with these silly billy sports writers, (you like that? Silly billy? ) I'm betting alot of those MVP votes are going to hang on who wins tonight and/or the West.
Thoughts?

too bad we have a habit recently of mailing in the first half of our home games...
hopefully tonight we can focus and come out with some energy to begin, and sustain it throughout.
but yes I agree it is quite an important game. |

Absolutely not.
Most important game of the season by far.
You wanna know why Kobe should win MVP this year? Cause I GUARANTEE he will not let the Lakers lose against the Hornets.
I PROMISE you. That's what sets him apart from other players and mvp candidates, Kobster will not let us lose this one. |

THat's true when it comes to losing against the Bobcats and Grizzlies, sub-par ass teams that are among the worst in the league.
But I think for a huge game like this against #1 seed, Kobe is gonna pump these fools up and tell 'em this is Game 1 of the Playoffs, WIN OR GO HOME, lol.
Everyone brings it tonight and holds their own, if not, Kobe has my permission to yell at them MJ style |

Lakers have to win this game. Otherwise, they might as well slide down to 5th spot. _________________ 1) DO WHATEVER IT TAKES

I don't think there has been. From this point on, every game will be much more important than the one before. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Let's see if the Lakers can match the energy in these two games. Both teams (NO, and SA) want to send a message to the league.
NO, wants to prove they can contend, and SA wants to prove to everyone they still have it and they're not old. Both will play their best ball of the season.
I hope the Lakers can match that with something of their own, to prove they really are contenders. Let's go Lakers, give it your all these next two games! |

NO!
This game means exactly the same as every other game. It is a must win game. Overhyping a game causes players to choke because of nervousness/anxiousness. _________________ "I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. Key for tonite:
1) Everyone must stay on their man even when CP penetrates -- no doubles & protect the perimeter -- let CP3 get his points. |

ratings will be as high as they can be when only people in CA (or who get FSN West maybe) can watch this game for free... |

These next two games are like playoff games. Tonight's is the most important game of the year, for the Lakers and Kobe. It may be the most important game of Kobe's career. I'm guessing he wants that MVP.
But, if we win tonight, then the SA game will be the most important game of the Lakers season and maybe even for Kobe's MVP candidacy. If we win tonight but lose the SA game and the Hornets win their last game of the season against Dallas, then I think CP3 gets the MVP.

the key to determining how the lakers will fare tonight will be to look at cp3's assist totals.
if he has 18 or more we're in serious trouble.
between 14-17 it's going to be a close game.
between 10-14, i like our chances.
below 10, and we win going away. _________________ "i was born down in the valley where the sun refused to shine, but i'm climbin' up to the highlands, goin' to make that mountain mine" ~ Lakers, 2011 |
