and just too add another category, if there were ONLY 3 CARS you could buy for your fleet, what 3 would they be? (price doesn't matter)
Oh damn I hate these.
E39 M5
Porsche Carrera GT (if allowable); if not,
Porsche GT3 (can't go wrong with EVO mag biased vehicles).
Don't need the GT2. Too fast for it's own good. Lines aren't clean. 200lbs. more. Don't need the Turbo. If I were to only get one car, it would be the Turbo, but I'd rather have more distinction from the M5.
Definitely best bang for buck. They know how to build em.
However, if you want straight line performance, that's won hands down by the other american super car....SSC ULTIMATE AERO. If you like Corvette, you should have no problem liking this car. 1182 HP.
One little thing that bothers me. They could've designed a new steering wheel for the Corvette (i.e. put the one from the new CTS or something) instead of putting the cheap, plasticky one used in the Cobalt and others. _________________ "It's just fo' decoration! the interior in that thing is S-I-C-K...I like it more than a Maybach or RR. DAMN!!!! I wonder what the tag will be on one of those things?
Mike, you love them Porsche's. They are the best drives imo. Perfect balance.....it doesn't get any better.
Porsche is one of the few vehicles that:
A) is reliable enough to drive daily
B) comfortable enough to drive daily
C) have plenty of performance to extract
D) still extract plenty of driver skill to maximize it's limits
I really wish Porsche had an "entry level" car in the market with a turbo 4 MR setup (similar to the new TT) for $30-$40k U.S. The Boxster upscaled from that market years ago.
And about the Sprinter, yeah I think it's better than all limos out there. More room, more space, etc.
Used ones go for $150k I think. $300k new. But talk about an ideal cross country vehicle. You can actually park the thing and it's easy to drive. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

It's amazing to see how cheap some of these 10 year old Corvettes are. . .and that model is one of my favorite models. To all of these people getting new awful cars like the Nissan Sentra, look in to a used corvette. It is a completely different class of vehicle of course, but practical enough. 20,000 will get you a solid vette.
The Japanese cars, I believe, hold their value better than the rest.
Come on, Mike.
That's being completely subjective.
Sure, it doesn't have the fire of a Ferrari per se, but I'll take it over any of those cars you mentioned as having character besides the Turbo.
I mean seriously.... Subarus? MR2? Elise? TT? Are you kidding?
And what's an R8 doing there? That's just a fat luxury car with a nice engine.
Character and performance considered, those cars aren't in the same league as the GTR.
Not sure why anyone would be knocking on the R8. I love the car.
I had an opportunity to drive both the R8 and the RS4 around the California Speedway track and I will say that the R8 puts the RS4 to shame. Driving the RS4 after the R8, it was clear to me that the R8 is truly a brilliant car. It made the RS4 boring. Hard to admit, but that was the truth. The car didn't handle as well, didn't accelerate as well, and the feedback from the track wasn't the same.
I'm a fan of the GT-R and do hope to drive one in the future (I'm also sure A LOT OF Angeleno's will be driving this car).
However, I can't shake the feeling that I got from driving the R8. I've been waiting for that V12 TDI to be unveiled and obviously, they did, as they said they would since last year's AutoShow (back in 2006). A lot of people weren't sure if Audi would bring the TDI to america, but they obviously did, and with quite some initiative.

0-60 in less than 3 seconds (something like 2.7 something).
Top speed by GUINESS WORLD BOOK OF RECORDS was rated at 265.something (averaged speed from trip down and up a length of road).
NASA rated the car's speed potential to be 273mph with it's current body shape and power plant.
ULTIMATE AERO simply stated, they needed more road to go faster.
How about something far more affordable that'd just embarass everyone else?
... and get you a free facelift...
Hold on. I wasn't aware the Atom was electric? Wth?
As far as I know it's got a Toyota motor in it.
I've seen a couple of Atoms in Santa Monica. I actually see one Atom in particular frequently around LA. License plate "WIERDO". hehehe
Nice guy. He drives with a helmet on I usually see this guy when I'm out riding my bike. Last time I saw him on Lincoln Blvd. in Santa Monica and he was driving around with another Atom (an Atom club perhaps?). For all I know, it could have been Leno. hahaha, the helmet makes it hard to see who's driving.
But the driver is always nice enough to wave when I wave

There's multiple variations. Most of them come with Chevy's ecotec motor. I don't recall a Toyota powerplant. It used to come with the S2000 motor (supercharged if you wanted) but that stopped. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
Im looking into maybe trading in my current car for something else (will be looking into this). It all depends if it turns out to be a practical car that could be as fun to drive as my last gen M3. _________________ Music is my medicine
yeah man. I love it but the tag on this vehicle is INSANE. For the money, I'd prefer something else. Although I wouldn't complain if I had one bro _________________ Music is my medicine

I'm sure it'll be fun to drive, but I definitely grew out of that boy-racer phase.
Yeah, I'll take the more pigheaded STi hatch. Just a roll bar away from some good fun. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
I'm not much of a Ford guy, but those are pretty quick. . .I'm not sure if they had the Mach1 that year, I don't know which one has got more power but they are both pretty bold.
