Sasha, Smush, and Von, in addition to other guards on other rosters were originially included in a list of 16 or so potentoial starters. The poll question is limited to 10 choices, so I made an executive decision to name those who I felt would facilitate intelligent discussion.
Some I know are more "pipe" than those from our summer roster, yet like I stated at the top, I do not see Phil playing any of the three "Lakers" this year that prominently. _________________ To be the champion, one doesn't have to be the best team in the country, just the best team each time one plays.
1-0. Six more times.

The spot is Sasha's to lose. He'll be ready by the time the season starts. Whether he lasts more than a month or so is another question. |

^ Sasha as a starter? Come on! I like the kid, but at best he's a back-up next year. We need a real starting PG. We need GP. _________________ -

My vote is for Jalen Rose.
Rose, Parker, Sasha...not great, but not terrible either. Out of the other realistic options, Rose is the best. |

Rose defending PG's? I'd love Rose off the bench, and yes, in stretches he could play this position... but to depend on him as our starting PG? Hell no!
GP is our best option... and we are his best option because we are the only west coast team that can offer him a starting job. _________________ -

Umm...why does everyone say ohh let's get Jalen as our starting point guard but yet you say (bleep) no to Sasha starting. If memory serves me Jalen doesn't play D either? So why all for him. I'm guessing that it will be T. Lue. |

Jalen Rose is a proven NBA player. His defense might not be great, but who's is out there.
Lets get something squared away...how many top PGs play very good defense in the NBA. Billups plays great D. Nash...not really. Parker...not really. Kidd...better, but not a lock down defender. B. Davis...decent, but not great. Marbury...nope.
Back to the topic, please dont compare Sasha to Rose. Rose is 10x the offensive player Sasha is. He is a proven vet. With all these other PGs in the NBA who play marginal defense at best, at least Rose would give us a PG with firepower to hang with the big boys.
Lue...are you serious? Anyone who wants him to be our starting PG seriously needs their head checked. He is a decent backup, not even a good one. He had a good 48 hours of playing defense on AI. Besides that, what has this guy EVER done to warrant being the starting PG on the Los Angeles Lakers? You want him over Rose? I sure as heck dont. |
