I thought Dark Knight was a sequel..

I think kontrast meant that another sequel would make it a trilogy. Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and the third film.

The first two were good, not counting the 3rd, throwing in the 4th for "the shot":
Alien
Aliens
Alien: Resurrection - no-look over the shoulder, nothing but net, no CG...

So many favorite Trilogies to list.

But I gotta agree with Back to The Future trilogy to pick one that stands out more.

OG Star Wars Trilogy
Godfather Trilogy (the first two are so great that they make up for the third one and still qualify as one of the greatest trilogies). I didn't totally hate the third one, but the standards set by the first two were way too high.

The Bourne trilogy. I don't really count Legacy in it, never watched but heard it was okay. Only watched the first BTTF and the last LOTR.

I'd pick this if Rocky would count.

This one is easy. Toy Story. Those 3 have the highest ratings just about everywhere.

(1) Star Wars (original) - The benchmark by which all are based.
(Internal rank)
Empire - Arguably the best of the entire saga.
Wars - Game-changing phenomenon.
Jedi - Weaker by comparison, but still an enjoyable conclusion.

(2) Godfather - Includes 2 of the best of all time.
Part I - Arguably best film all-time.
Part II - Arguably better than Part I.
Part III - Interesting ideas, but flawed in production and execution.

(3) Lord of the Rings - The modern standard for epic films.
Fellowship - Excellent storytelling.
Two Towers - Underrated middle chapter.
King - Largest special effects, but even more deviation from original work.

(4) The Dark Knight Trilogy - Game changer for comic book films.
Dark Knight - Arguably all-time best comic film, and a great crime epic on its own.
Batman Begins - Sets the stage for reboots -- both comic book and otherwise -- thereafter.
Dark Knight Rises - Some shaky plot contrivances in the first hour, but relentless and moving in the third hour.

(5) Indiana Jones Trilogy - Because no one wants to count Crystal Skull.
Raiders - Possibly the greatest adventure film ever.
Last Crusade - Some script holes, but great fun.
Temple of Doom - Known more for (a) being the dark/ scary one and for (b) the sidekicks than anything else.

I really love the Back to the Future trilogy! I've been a fan of these movies since I was a kid, and they continue to be one of my favorite movie series of all time watching on soap2day. The original film, released in 1985, follows the adventures of high school student Marty McFly as he travels back in time from 1985 to 1955 and then to the future of 2015. The sequels build on the original story by adding time travel paradoxes, a mad scientist and a DeLorean time machine. The movies are filled with humor, adventure and memorable characters, making them both funny and heartwarming and I love revisiting them on and on. I especially love the chemistry between Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, who play the iconic characters Marty and Doc Brown. These movies have become classics, and their influence can still be seen in many movies, TV shows and video games. No wonder the Back to the Future trilogy is beloved by many fans.

Lord of the Rings, which was originally one book. I’ve probably read those books 25 times. They inspired Robert Plant to write Zeppelin songs about them.
