Basically the Lakers bracket and Celtics bracket starts on Monday - wraps on Saturday - nothing more beyond released _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus
So is there no way to get tickets to Game 3 or 4 since Houston hasn't officially won yet? I really want to go to one of those games and would like to take care of it ASAP. _________________ "I have self-doubt. I have insecurity. I have fear of failure...everyone does. How come we aren't facing Dallas? Good thing it is on Monday, I have to go camping over the weekend.
NBA doesn't re-seed (unlike the NHL) so the Lakers are locked into playing the winner of the 4/5 match-up, as opposed to the worst remaining seed (Dallas).
Never really liked NBA that system of a locked bracket. It diminishes the advantage of the 1st seeding. In a 4/5 matchup either team could have a shot and there isn't likely a big difference in the caliber of the team. The team you get is either a 4 or 5.
However, the 2nd seed has a shot at seeing a 6th seed (as will happen with whomever Dallas faces) if there's an upset, and a 3rd seed could find themselves playing a 7th seed in the second round.
So there's a good chance that either 3rd seed or 2nd seed sees easier competition than the 1st.
Not a good system in my opinion. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

BTW, it's definitely Monday at 7:30. It's on the Lakers Ticket Exchange and they don't put games up until the date and time unless it is official. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Doesn't ABC then ESPN pick games first. Won't they want a Sunday Laker game as it will be higer rating than Monday? There is too many end of season prime time show for them not to want the Lakers on Sunday.

So does Dallas kind of count as the #3 seed since they beat the #3 seed? If the #8 seed beat the #1 seed, then would the #8 seed count as the #1 seed and face the #5 seed instead of the #2 seed? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

I can live with a possible cold shooting 1st quarter so that Fish, Kobe, Gasol, Walton can get some rest/recover, and so Drew can round back into form.

Actually, Candy is partially correct.
As Mule pointed out, Dallas is not considered the #3 seed - they would remain the #6 seed but are guaranteed to play the 2/7 winner.
As to Candy's second point, the #8 seed would not become the #1 seed, but would face the winner of the 4/5 match-up as opposed to the #2 seed.
Assuming the Lakers (#1), Denver (#2), Houston (#5) and Dallas (#6) advance, as we've pointed out a few times already, the match-ups are Lakers/Houston and Denver/Dallas. To Candy's first point, since all of the seeds remain the same, Dallas would never have homecourt against any of the remaining teams. Similarly, Houston would only have homecourt if they advanced and faced Dallas in the conference finals.

Looks like the league's desire to stick with the current scheduling alignment trumped a Lakers game on Sunday. Plus, TNT is a pretty important partner as well. They're giving ABC Lebron or a possible 7th game.
The Sunday games will be Denver/Dallas and Cleveland/Miami or Atlanta (or the 7th game of the Miami/Atl series).

I was simply referring to the point that beating a team doesn't make you suddenly the same seed as that team.
I was speaking specifically to the logic that the 1 seed doesn't get the ultimate benefit of the 1 seed in a locked bracket, but would under a reseeding scenario where the match ups are determined by original seeding and not simply on who beat whom to advance. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

A week off is usually not a great thing for staying sharp, but the team needs the rest. A week is not too bad. After we swept the Spurs in 2001 WCFs, we had an eleven-day layoff, IIRC. It cost us game one. But that layoff was just way too long.
