No doubt this game will be tough...the Blazers always bring their A game against the Lakers...especially Outlaw,Alridge,Roy,Blake etc...hopefully the Lakers play like they know how to and get the W...hopefully Odom shows up..I remember last time LA got in his face when Roy fell on the floor hard. |

It's been like 4-5 years. We're going to get owned. I can feel it. |

Here's a quote from that Yahoo link...
Quote: | ...“It’s a significant win for us, period,” Lakers coach Frank Hamblen said. “We’re in a race for a playoff spot.”
The Lakers, in eighth place in the Western Conference, were coming off a 104-95 victory over Boston the night before.... |
Look at us now, top team in the West and front runner for HCA.
I hope we break that losing spell at the Garden. |

Lakers @ Rose Garden =
We will hopefully keep it close but I don't see us breaking the evil curse this year.
Hope we can steal 2 W's in Texas and come away 2-1 on this road trip. That would be pretty good in my book. |

I know they are focused for this game. I predict we blow them out by 20 and Kobe sits out most of the 4th.
GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I can't help but think this Laker squad is going to be loaded for bear. They've had some time to rest and think about 4 solid years of not winning in Portland. They've had a penchant for breaking streaks this year. They know this is a short but tough road trip, and that it's key to HCA, an they want to get this trip started right.
Lakers 113 OT
Blazers 112 |

Everybody has a tough time there, they are on a 11 game "home win' streak....
We go into the Houston game right after, and they are on a 10 game home win streak....
Time to snap some streaks.... |

Your obsession with the Blazers is rather scary I must say. Did their mascot murder your dog? |

If they play the same way they have been the last couple weeks with no intensity and no urgency we will get wiped off the floor. It seems like the whole Trail Blazer team turns into an all star ensemble when they face the Lakers. To be honest, the 2 games the Lakers come to town are probably the biggest games of the year for Portland(and I'm pretty sure this is true). anyway I guess I could just ask mq404. . . .Any thoughts? |

LaMarcus Aldridge once had a blog on his website. The only (negative) comment he made about another team was toward "the Lakers".
Those dudes just don't like us. Even the rookies. We are their eternal rivals. |

They're tough at home and they get up for the Lakers just like everyone else. That being said, we have to kick their arses. |

But honestly it seems every team gets up for the Lakers . . . Why not the Celtics? |

Hooray another Lakers game (feels like they are rare these days)
We have no excuses on this one. Can't blame being tired (Wahhh) or having a late flight, or traveling too much in the last few days, etc etc. We are a better team. Come out focused, execute, energy on D, if your shots aren't falling run the damn offense. Do that and it's a win.
After the win, get right back in gear because it ain't getting any easier at Houston then at San Antonio back-to-back |

Limit 2nd chance opportunities and box out. We win.
Rebound like they way we did against the Wolves. We lose. _________________ Eighth grade key phrases are crucial tools for this type of subterfuge: "team player", "make teammates better", "ballhog", "selfish", "court vision": all dripping with sanctimony and defamation. |

I tried to tell my Celtic loving Laker hating cousin that. Exhibit 1,000,000: Nene' sat out the Celtics game when the Thuggets laid down and lost big time. Yet he played and their entire team played like their lives depended on it against us. Of course we were on the 2nd of a back to back - but still. The Lakers - not the Boston Bastards - are the standard for which every team measures themselves. It's like a mystique. It even goes like that with the media. Check out a BSPN highlight for a team or a player. Notice they usually show us on the short end of the stick so to speak. Agents? Ditto. Players' agents put it out there that the Lakers are looking at signing a player. Next thing you know their asking price goes up - and of course they are not a Laker (I'm still a little PO'd about the Kendall Gill fiasco back in the day).
In years past I don't think Kobe's teammates understood what it means to be a Laker. After getting their arses handed to them in Game 6 last year, I think things will be different this year.
Go Lakers! |
