All this MVP talk is great stuff.. but the team really cant be distracted at this stage, we should get our mindset right for the next game against the Jazz.. Hopefully the Lakers can keep this great performance up and take care of home court! |

Everybody is pumped that Kobe won MVP, most importantly, he is pumped and more focused than ever. Should be a good game, we got this. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts! |

i was worried that the MVP award would distract the team also, but I think it'll actually make them more focussed now; considering how Kobe keeps stressing to the media that for him, it's a team award. I think this statement alone boosts the whole teams' morale and will make them perform (atleast try) even better. |

I'm worried that lots of factors are coming together that could lead to a tough game tonight:
1) We're due for a loss
2) Distracted by MVP hoopla (Kobe said the right things but the whole event is still a distraction)
3) Overconfidence
Whatever - gotta stay positive! Go Lakes! |

I think we are going to destroy them tonight. I am sure like me they are sick of hearing "how bad" the jazz played and that they werent the cause of that. Im sure they are sick of hearing how "they got away with one".
They make a statement on both ends tonight

A loss tonight would absolutely SUCK!!
1. We'd lose homecourt advantage and be forced to win a game in the toughest arena in basketball.
2. Our winning streak would end in single digits (9) killing all the momentum we've built up over the last 15 games. It would instead give the Jazz all the momentum in the world -- going back home with a HUGE road win, the series tied and the opportunity to advance to the WCF without having to win another game at Staples.
3. It would ruin Kobe's MVP night, not just for him, but his teammates and all the fans inside and outside of Staples Center.
Hope it doesn't come down to that... |

Since this game is only on TNT, and like someone said in another post, it pry wouldnt even be showing until about 5 minutes into the game, is the MVP trophy presentation on any other channel like FSN? |

Yeah thats real crappy I don't think TNT is gonna show the MVP thing live they will probably show it like at halftime. On top of that since the Magic and Pistons start at 5 the Laker game will probably start late. Come on TNT just start the game 30 minutes earlier at 4:30 for the Magic game I don't see why they wouldn't. I don't think they are showing it on FSN because of the Angels game and the Dodgers game is on FSN prime. So we will probably have to wait till halftime or maybe in the middle of the first half of game 2 when they show it.
I hate when games are exclusive to TNT that means there's a good chance Ill miss some part of the Laker game. At least game 3 is on KCAL 9. |

I'm going to the game tonight. Have to see Kobe recieve that MVP trophy in person.
No way Kobe loses on MVP night.
Lakers 93 Jazz 90. I'm guessing they'll really grind it out in this game, both teams playing real hard defense, half court offense. |

If we just stay consistent in our defense and not grow week toward the 3rd or 4th which I see happenin alot....especially when Kobe is being rested....and if our centers most of Gasol stay focused I know we will be schoolin Utah tonight.......
Go Lakers!
And Go Kobe our Mvp! |

lakers need to ride the momentum of the mvp presentation, hopefully kobe brings his teammates out with him to get the awaard or at some point during the presentation and let the cheers and joy from the crowd launch them square into the chest of the jazz knocking the wind right out of them for a A$$ whooping _________________ RIP.....Pop (AJ Sr.) 7/09/23-01/20/09
Thanks for 35 years of love, sacrifice and joy...also for taking me to all the lakers games at the GW forum as a youngster and helping me understand the joy that comes from watching a lakers game |
