{Original title: What's the best way to beat Utah tonight? edit by alpha}

On Offense:

Work within the system or let Kobe go to town?

On Defense:

Clog the passing lanes and let Deron get his points and making him beat us, rather than letting him get everyone else involved, a la Steve Nash? Do we go under the pick or over?

What are your thoughts on the best strategy, and why?

Keep the game close. Slow down the pace. Don't leave shooters open. Have high energy.

we definitely have to limit the amount of assists and easy baskets deron gets and let him try to beat us with his scoring instead. We need to grab teh baords and not allow offensive rebounds. On offense we should run the offense through Kobe and let him draw the double gettin open shots for others. Kobe could go off on them since he has had some huge games against Utah.

Trade for Bruce Bowen and let him put out Kirilenko and Williams with cheap shots.

Attack them inside. Limit their assists. Play half court ball because they can run too. Rebound, rebound, rebound.

LOL, Dirk already put out Kirilenko for us- he hasn't been the same since returning from that hip injury.

Thanks, Dirk!

Now, onto the banana peel idea for deron.... hmmmm.

AK is going to be key for them. We need to keep him off the boards.

go under the picks, keep deron out of the lane, and dare him to beat us with his jumper.

let him score from outside, just don't let him stroll down the lane for finishes or finding boozer.

ronny is gonna have his hands full with boozer, and we'll let lamar roam outside with okur (no worries there, just stay home)

and our 2nd unit better bring it tonight, and stay home on kutcher

Keep the intensity going the entire game. Limit the amount of offensive rebounding by playing solid defense and boxing out. Attack the paint aggressively, so that it doesn't give Kirilenko a lot of shot blocking opportunities from the weak side. Offensively, keep the offense flowing, so that Utah can't sag for "help" defense. They're a solid team defensively and if Kobe is having a "me against the world" game, then it allows Utah the opportunity to rest defensively against the rest of the Lakers.

The best way is use a tall athletic player to guard Boozer and cover our guards when they go over the picks. AB did that the best for us. Sorry, without that D, I'm not holding my breath.

Agressive D. Keep the movement in the tri going like the last game. Solid ball movement, and less of Kobe pounding the ball. Vlad, LO, Ronny, Fish etc have to be a concern of the Jazz D. Mainly the D, everyone has to be agressive: stop gambling for steals, and please stop the unwarranted switches on d off the ball

The Lakers have to imagine they're playing the Celtics in the '08 Finals (Game 7).

Slip some 30 wt ball bearings into their morning cereal and then feed em a time release laxative. Bet not a one of em makes it to the 2nd half. Would give new meaning to double dribble....

Deron Williams is the key...

If he has open shots he will hit them. Sadly, the only one that would have success with Willams is Fish, only because DWill has great upper body strength like Fisher.

Odom actually does well with Boozer, but that can all change with a lack of enthusiam on Odom's part.

The only other factor is Okur....who can basically play that inside outside game. Radman would be the best suited for this job.

Limit them to one shot and make Deron a scorer, not a playmaker.

Mamba-ball and limit the bad 3s or they will kill us in transition.

Also, hope Boozer's jumper isn't falling..

PostPosted: Thu Mar 20, 2008 12:36 pm    Post subject: How do we contain D. Williams?

Ok, we lucked out the other night with Kidd. Kidd's half court offense can be very one dimensional. And lets be honest, even Tyrone Lue was eating Fisher for breakfast.

How about putting Kobe on Williams tonight, and Fisher on Brewer. Perhaps this will limit Kobe on the offensive end, but lets face it, this will be a blow out if we don't contain him in their building. Any other ideas?
