I'm just not a fan of either player because Strawberry has been inconsistent with his maturity as a player in Maryland, and Stuckey has a tendency to lose focus or lack effort defensively. Those are qualities Smush Parker has.
As for a European player being able to lockdown his position?
Pietrus. Diaw used to. Ginobili does to some extent. Thabo Sefalosha is the latest Euro rookie to do so. |
I did not ask for a European name able to lockdown his position but a white European able to lockdown the 1.Ginobili defends 2s and 3s the rest are African-European.
In other words is there any historical precedent that Rudy Fernandez or Marco Belinelli can lockdown the 1 for the Lakers?
Or does Rudy F= Sasha V and Marco B= Marco Jaric?
As far as Stuckey and Strawberry are concerened they are both potential second round picks although I know DraftEX has him as a 1st rounder.I would not use the Lakers 1st on Stuckey. All second rounders have issues if they did not they would be first rounders.
Again what are better alternatives?

Drazen. 
For the record, I really like Sefalosha. From the first game I saw him play. I could definitely see how he shot up so quickly the last couple of weeks. |
I don't recall Drazen just the highlights I see on ESPN when they did a story on him. He looked like a full-sized SG. Did he even guard 1s?

It doesn't matter the race. It does matter the competition and league level.
Neither Fernandez or Belinelli can lock down 1s.

he's good, but he's not as dominant as all the hype that surrounds him... Nick Young looks more dominant and NBA ready...

It matters. Not a coincidence that 90% of American players in the NBA are African-American while only 12.5% of the poplulation.
To suggest otherwise is PC nonsense.
Mexican-Americans are nearly 6% of the population yet not a single player in the NBA? Only Mexican national Eduardo Najera in the league.
How many Philipino-Americans are in the league?
Regarding Fernandez and Belinelli, that is my point.

What does that have to do with anything?
It says 0% of anything about being athletic and skilled enough to play in the NBA. Period.
I don't even care that there's no Filipinos in the NBA and I'm Filipino. None of them can play at that kind of level and what tends to happen when there are players so clearly outmatched is bigtime injuries.

The games I saw of Durant this year reminded me of watching Big Dog Robinson in college.
Durant is a great player, but like Big Dog is a little too in love with taking contested long jump shots.
But for a true freshman, he is sensational....that is not to say that he doesn't have a lot of things that he can work on. He needs to work on his shot selection and overall intensity in my mind.....that said, he would still be my pick over Oden as #1 in the draft personally.
