Just curious. We have such a diverse group of people here at LG that I though it would be interesting to see what kind of music (bands, songs, albums, artists, ect.) people listen to.

I'm pretty diverse myself, but I mostly listen to either rap or rock. I love Immortal Technique, but Nonpoint is probably my favorite band as of right now.

"Whatever music you like..."

Sorry, the thread title reminded me of Coming to America.

I like good music, regardless of genre. When I was younger it was strictly urban music (rap, r&b). But I would say most of my listening now probably falls into pop/rock. I haven't had a lot of time lately to explore new artists so this list will sound dated.

Some favorites (current):
Ted Leo & the Pharmacists
Spoon
Wilco
M. Ward
Broken Social Scene
Feist
Joanna Newsom
Neko Case
New Pornographers

Long standing faves:
Radiohead
Dismemberment Plan
My Bloody Valentine
Elvis Costello & the Attractions
Nick Drake
The Pretenders
The Sundays
Beatles
Wu-Tang Clan (and associated solo works)
Tribe Called Quest
Otis Redding
Stevie Wonder
Smokey Robinson
The Temptations
Bjork
Jeff Buckley
Cocteau Twins

Me and my friend actually went to see Tool a couple of moths ago. By far the loudest concert I've ever been to, but also by far the best concert I've ever been to.

That's what I was like too. In highschool I only listened to Bone Thugz, 2pac, and other West coast rap but since I have broadened by taste to virtually everything...except country.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. When we saw them they didn't have anyone else playing with them, but yeah, Maynard isn't exactly the most exciting front man to ever grace the stage.

I'm a pretty big Tool fan but their shows are mainly about the music. They don't really have much of a SHOW. They just play their songs very well (just like the album). I saw them at Coachella and they were good but not the best band that year. I saw em a couple years ago during the Lateralus tour and they had some cool lights and visuals but I still wish that I could see them play (the stage is dark and you can barely see Maynard). Did you really think that was the best concert you have ever been to?!

Better concerts that I've seen over the past couple years (just to name a select few): Beck, Radiohead, Bjork, Prince, Arcade Fire, Mars Volta, Daft Punk...

When I said "best" I was talking mainly from a music stand point. They really pulled it off live. They almost sounded exactly like the album. Like you said they really don't put on a show, but I wasn't really grading them from that perspective. I saw Disturbed last year at Ozzfest and they had the crowd going absolutley crazy. Them and Korn really know how to the crowd going.

I saw TOOL during the Lateralus tour and there were nothing but steakheads violently headbanging all around us. My and my friends were laughing our asses off. Good times!

Maynard and co. tend to be focused on recreating their sound to be exactly how it appears on the records. I appreciate that they put a lot of preparation into their shows in terms of production with the screens and stuff. I'm not a huge fan of their music, but in regards to them not moving around on stage, that doesn't bother me much. Whenever I see these bands on TV today like Fall Out Boy spin their guitars around their necks and doing jumps, that does nothing for me. Actually, I think it looks really silly. There's so much more that goes into making a good show.

I'm generally not too big a fan of Maxwell but I love that Sexual Healing remix he did and have found myself liking him more and more.
