Here is his nbadraft.net profile - http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/derrickbyars.html. He seems to have good hoop IQ, is one of the better defenders in the draft, and can shoot from the outside. Even if he moves up prior to draft time, like many players of his nature do, he'd still be in range of our first round pick. I usually am pretty good with following college basketball and upcoming prospects, but don't know too much about Byars.
Opinions? After a year or 2 of development he'd fill our defensive crater at SF (Luke/Vlad)
I was really thinking he may be a good fit for the Lakers as well. It looks like he can score as well as defend. I'm hoping we pick up a perimeter player over 6'5" who can shoot and defend in this years draft.
The question is does anybody know more about this guy? Any info would be appreciated.
Terrible first half against Washington State. And then he just erupted. Pretty impressive, but this is the first time I've even seen him play. He could be great or he could be this years Kirk Snyder.
this cat has a real nice stroke. What's his dimensions? Size? Wing Span? Vert? etc etc. He looks athletic as well. _________________ Music is my medicine
somehow those athletic tests seem less impressive for me after watching farmar.
as nice a player as he seemed to be, i see nothing that resembles the athletic freak that he was made out to be from those tests...
btw, just checked - and draftexpress has us taking byers at 33

Everyone put too much emphasis on Farmar's vert.
Farmar, Jordan 33.5 42 11 11.07 3.17 259.8009 12
What that doesn't account for is wingspan and the ball in his hands.
Even then, he's still an above average athlete at his position. Not the quickest but quick. Not the fastest but decently fast. Doesn't dunk because his wingspan practically matches his height.
This isn't Jarrett Jack or Raymond Felton we're talking about. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
