Oden should be in this draft. He is projected #1, so it makes sense to make the jump after only one season in college.

Man, I would LOVE to get Mbah a Moute in the 2nd round. Talk about a steal. Heck, I'd be happy with him in the first round.

Aparently, Oden LOVES school and LOVES that he is going to college.
He loves being a student, loves learning and wants to stay in school.
I think it's great that he's like that.

He says he's in no rush for the NBA... but those $$$ can be mighty tempting.

I'd be nice to have him stay in college to fully develop his game.
Four years in school could REALLY help re-energize the NCAA.

The sooner you enter the NBA the safer your financial security. Basically, the rookie contract for the top pick would set a player for life. On the other hand, a player can blow out a knee in college and struggle like every other guy in college.

I like Moute, but I think he's going to stay plus, he's short for a PF and we have enough SF. Afflalo's a young Maurice Evans but we already have him. I hope Jianlian drops enough in the draft for us to get him. It'll at least give us a spike in the asian community ala yao ming. Realistically, we may go for a PG/SG hybrid since Sasha isn't producing.

Moute is a young Artest in the making minus the crazy. We don not have anything like that on the team.

Evans guards 1s & 2s and Moute guards 2s, 3s, and small 4s. Then we have Kwame for big 4s & 5s.

We don't need a young 5 or 1. At 2 we have Kobe and Evans. We have offense at 3 and defense at 4. So a defensive 3 like Moute or an offensive perimter 4 that can weak side swat like Ante Tomic is what we need.

BTW: If Mitch works out Moute and gives him a first round guarantee I bet a Cameroon Principality he comes out next year.

I disagree about Moute. He's really a PF in a SG body. LOTS of guard development required...

I've been a Buckeye basketball fan (not football though) since I was young, and they've been starving for a LBJ type player to hit campus since JJ. As much as I'm salvating over him taking them to a title, I'd be amazed if he stayed. Even if you love school that much, the NBA is starving for a true center and he will have nothing to prove as the #1 pick today. How much would it rock for him to stay another year and the Lakers to make a midseason deal with a "playoff" team that falls apart the next year, say a deal for a throw in 1st rounder.

The Lakers should get the Bobcats #2 pick, which is looking good with the Bobcats at 1-6.

Would LOVE to see us come out of the draft with those 2.

I really like what I saw from KU's Mario Chalmers last night, and I've been interested in him since watching him in the McDonald's All-American Game a couple years ago.

Great on the ball defender, long arms, incredibly quick hands, good shooter. Doesn't have great size at 6-2 though and gets a bit out of control as a point guard so he's playing more at the SG this year.

I'd be happy to pick him up in the 2nd round, although I doubt he comes out after this year.

That #2 pick from the Bobcats will likely be around #31-#35 overall. It's supposed to be a fairly strong draft, so someone decent might fall into that range.

Not completely convinced of Chalmers. I don't think he's ready to declare.

As deep as the roster is right now, the Lakers may want a European player to stay there for a while. Sometimes, teams can get a better player who is tied up for a couple of seasons due to high priced buyouts. The Lakers have their own first and second rounders and an additional second round pick. If a MLE player is also added, it would require emptying a few roster spots. Keeping someone in Europe might be a good alternative.
