You don't think we could beat the Kings one time so you'd rather we beat Denver four times? Makes perfect sense.

I'm very well aware we've played poorly against the Kings but what about against Denver? We haven't beaten Denver in 8 tries.

Frankly against Denver, we are just the inferior team. Against the Kings its like the 1995 Lakers vs Supersonics. We had their number that year and even beat them in the playoffs even though they were a much better team (48 wins vs 57 wins and the projected wins is even more skewed to the point of laughable 40 wins vs 61 wins - yea the gap was THAT large even though the Lakers beat the Supersonics ALL 5 TIMES that year) because of matchups such as Van Exel loving to destroy Seattle (Like Fox vs Lakers) and how for some reason, Shawn Kemp struggled against the inferior Elden Campbell because of the bulk and size (AD vs Sabonis)

Well this trend ended the very next year when the Supersonics made the finals and played Chicago. Similarly, I expect this weird trend to frankly end because AD should NOT be struggling with Sabonis and LA should not have this kind of hard time with Sacramento.

Finally, a logical fan. I don't get why people want to beat Denver so badly. If there's even a slight path of winning the championship without having to play Denver, we take it.

Suns could take out Denver in the second round for us. Then we take out the Suns in WCF since we match up well against them.

Last 15 games
11-4
Ind loss was a scheduled loss.
1st GS game, AD got hurt and played 1 quarter
2nd GS game, AD didn’t play
Minny loss, no lebron and basically no aD

They are playing well at the right time and Lebron looks fresh and healthy. We beat the defending champs last year, and I hope we can do the same this year.
No need to tank to break up our momentum

exactly, this is what logical is

add to it that lebron is lock-in now and also has energy in the defensive end.

And this is the first time we see lebron not banged up since the Bubble. I still think that Lebron since the bubble and they beat the Nuggets.

Getting Denver in round 1 is what you want.

If the Lakers tank the game on Tuesday, they will lose to GS/Sac on Friday.

If we couldn't beat GSW or Kings once, then what makes people think we could beat Denver 4 times??

I'm rooting for Pelicans HARD in this one. I want the 8th seed and face OKC where we've toasted them 3 out of 4 times this year. Our FO is too dumb to figure it out. They need some luck...lol.

GO PELICANS GO!!

There is no guarantee we beat OKC, and we will be facing Denver or a team that is good enough to beat Denver in a playoff series.

There's no guarantee for anything. I think I've stated that matchup is key. It would be a shame if we matched up well against the other teams but we got eliminated by the one team that matched up well against us. Shame.

No guarantee we beat OKC but they should definitely be easier than Denver based on past records. I want the "statistically easiest" path to the championship and Denver is statistically the hardest matchup for the Lakers.

If you want to figure it out statistically, it's a lot more complicated than that as you have to also to take into account the chances that we could be eliminated in the play-in, the effects of a second play-in game on our rest and preparation, and the chances that we could end up playing Denver later in the playoffs anyway.

If we're tanking against Pelicans, then we're resting our starters so it'd be like we'd only play in one play-in game as far as rest is concerned.

Again, if we let Denver play against Phoenix in the second round, then there's a chance Phoenix could eliminate them for us and then we face Phoenix and have an easier WCF since we match up much better against Phoenix.

I think the whole point here is to try to avoid Denver as much as possible because we've had such terrible record against them. If we faced them in the first round, then that's exactly what we were trying to avoid. If we don't face them in the first round, then there's a chance we might not have to face them. If both teams made it to the WCF, well then at that point, there's no choice but to beat them.

Can’t believe some people are advocating for a tank loss tomorrow.

Play to win. If we we are fortunate enough to get Denver - bring ‘rm on!

We can beat anyone.

How sweet would it be to beat those Jokers and get the monkey off our back?

Go Lakers!

Warriors can get hot and run you out of ur gym
Kings own us big time

but we are suppose to lose to the team that we own this season

jesus christ. what kind of silly logic is this

We can play great and still lose to pelicans. It’s the playoffs. Time to bring the A game every game.

Exactly. If we are championship team then lay the cards on the table or go home.

The good thing he is not one of the players on the team. As long as they don’t think like it’s ok.

I hate having to play the same team like this b2b. It's really hard to beat a quality team like this over and over again, they will be guns blazing.

They probably don't want DEN either though, so it might be a wash.

Personally I go for the win and let the chips fall where they may.

Pelicans are favored by 1.5 points tomorrow. Forget the tanking aspect, how often does a team win 2 in a row when they play back to back? I’m sure someone will post that stat on Twitter eventually.

If the Lakers play with the same intensity as yesterday they will win again easily

I believe this is the last great chance for AD and LeBron considering how injury free they have been this season, my heart says let’s bring on Denver but they have a great chance to send us home, so going up against a inexperienced OKC team gives me more hope of a deep playoff run

The Lakers are 3-1 against them with an average margin of victory of ~26 points in those games. They lost one on the second night of a back to back during the post IST lull. I can’t believe the betting line hasn’t been pushed yet.

Sure - but it is not always in line with who they think will win and by how much. It is to influence the money coming in to be split as evenly as possible.
