MDA is interesting and not someone I would have thought of, but we don’t have the shooting or the athleticism to be as good as the old Phoenix teams. Nor do we have a great PG

For me it is just important that next coach is highly experienced and has many seasons under his belt. Lakers cannot afford to hire young rookie head coaches. This need to be stopped.

Reading these comments, I'm almost starting to warm up to MDA. But he would have to bring a really good defensive coordinator with him, because he sucks at coaching defense.

The other thing is, he can't have us start shooting a ton of 3s and be among the league-leaders in 3-point attempts, since we only have a couple of above-average 3-point shooters. But he could enhance our fast break and our halfcourt offense.

I read that he's a coaching advisor for the Pelicans. Could we even hire him if he's under contract? Would he even want to be a head coach again, especially for this Lakers team?

Bringing MDA would be the worst decision ever. You are bringing the coach that only wants his team to shoot threes to a team that cannot shoot at all.

We need stability and experience of Terry Stotts.

Fantastic point.
At this moment Lakers can hire only the coach that Lebron likes and this is number 1 Lakers problem. The same as bringing players in. If you bring Coach that LeBron does not approve trouble starts immediately. If you bring player before consulting Lebron problems begin.
Almost impossible to be GM when you have a guy that need to approve everything.
Even Kobe did not had this kind of power and he deserves it more that Lebron will ever have.
Lakers are in though position right now.
To make a great Team again will start once Lebron is gone. Hopefully soon.

After Vogel was fired, Darvin Ham, Terry Stotts and Kenny Atkinson all advanced to the final round of interviews for the Lakers head coach position.

Maybe the Lakers go for one of Stotts or Atkinson if Ham is fired. Stotts is known as an offensive coach and I think he would improve the Lakers offensive. Atkinson impressed me when he was with the Nets. I think Atkinson was in a tough situation when the Nets signed Kyrie and KD as they both wanted Nash to replace him and Atkinson wanted to start Allen over DJ which reportedly caused issues.

I'm fine if the Lakers take a chance on Handy until the end of the season as long as they bring in an experienced assistant like how Vogel had Hollins and Kidd. Or bring in Dudley and Rondo for Handy's staff.

VOGEL SHOULDA NEVER BEEN FIRED… NO explanation needed!!! Such a DUMB DECISION, NO matter what reason was given (I still don’t know?). I assume it was just stupidity or a power move by dummies! 🤯😡

Scapegoat. By firing Vogel, the FO was basically saying "We suck because of the coach and nothing else. Westbrick was great. The coach just couldn't utilize him." Pelinka and Jeanie were the smart ones responsible for building the championship team. Vogel was useless.

Believe or not, some fans actually bought into that narrative.

Some of it is true, the Lakers (including Vogel, Lebron and AD) did suck at utilizing Westbrook. All you have to do is watch a Clipper game and see how Lue successfully utilizes him. Sucks that Jeanie went cheap on Lue.

Agree that it’s the LBJ factor. He is great but 39 years old and a huge salary. Have to wait him out an replace with a couple younger less expensive stars to have balance/growth with any coach. I don’t think Ham is a particularly good coach but to change coaches yet again is dumb. It’s like rearranging the deck chairs while the Titanic is headed for the iceberg….

But a cheaper way to settle all of this is let the KANG be the coach.

No more whining or players not listening..it will solve everything.

Westbrook has long since accepted his vet min status and not even close to being an all-star. It's comedic gold that people think Lue is doing some magic trick with Westbrook.

What has turned them around is WB went to the bench, dropped his minutes a ton, they got Harden.

Give 2021-22 Lakers Harden as a 3rd option to AD/Bron, a WB that's willing to be a bench player playing 15 min as a vet min, some decent defenders like Mann, and you'd see that team immediately contend in the top 4 of the West.

I really LMAO at some of the comments I read here. Westbrook of 23-24 has long accepted he's a role player now. He no longer thinks he deserves 35 minutes a game and doesn't make 43-47M a year.

Westbrook is averaging around 19 minutes a game in the last 12 Clip games. Looking at his game logs. He's coming off the bench, and doing a much smaller role.

I get people like Lue, but damn the myths. When Westbrook started for them, they got bounced in the playoffs, they also were horrid starting Westbrook. The biggest factor is Westbrook has began to accept reality. He wasn't even close to accepting this even a year ago.

This took many steps for WB.

Step 1 - Lose as a co-star to Beal. Get traded.
Step 2 - Lose as a co-star next to AD/Bron.
Step 3 - Lose as a 6th man, high minutes player next to AD/Bron. Get traded.
Step 4 - Cut, waived by Utah, to get signed for the vet min (45M pay cut)
Step 5 - Lose as a Clipper as their 3rd option.
Step 6 - Continue to lose as a Clipper even after they traded for Harden.
Step 7 - Accept lesser fitting role

He's at step 7 2 years later. And the salary makes a big difference. You can't justify being a 18-20 minutes guy when you're making 47M a year.

Names I've read people have mentioned, I personally wouldn't want Jackson or Doc.

Mark Jackson, Jordi Fernandez, Kenny Atkinson, Terry Stotts, Mike Budenholzer, Dave Joerger, Doc Rivers, Mike D'Antoni, Becky Hammon and Juwan Howard.

Mike D’Antoni? Crazy but we’re built to fast break

D'Antoni would elevate the games of DLO, Reaves, Rui, Wood

Only downside is AD would likely take more threes, LeBron would continue to play high minutes, and Vando would likely get no play time. Not unless he turned into Shawn Marion 2.0.

D'Antoni is a great coach but he wont come back to the Lakers for sure because of what Jeanie did in the last round...plus i think he is done with coaching. I hear coach K...really?? why are people excited about all the retired, too old and outdated coaches?

Those Brick fans here Brick was almost out of the NBA last year after Jazz decided to waive him..he had to wait for a while before Clippers offered him a spot

It needs to be a guy that elevates the play of the players that we have. We can’t just give an incoming coach a different roster.

This team is usually injured. D'Antoni would finish most of these guys off. You can't run his O unless you have young, healthy players that are high 3% point shooters & that's not this bunch.

Malik Beasley is shooting 47% on 6 attempts with the Bucks.

On the Lakers he shot 35%.

Y'all need to understand what good coaching and players in a better position will do for players.

I don’t know if the FO is willing to take the risk again but David Adelman(Nuggets assistant coach) or Jordi Fernandez(coached Team Canada) are intriguing picks but the risk is they would be first time head coaches and they would be betting on them to make it work but they both got potencial to be great head coaches
