something that's been mentioned/discussed ad nauseum in the FA thread definitely warranted its own thread

For Porzingis.

Do it Paula Abdul!

Me too, I'd love to get some talented youth in here for the future. I
know the Laker FO will cater to LJ's window but I'd love to keep
our picks.

17 for an all star level player that's only 28 is a no brainer.

The Lakers will waive Mo Bamba and not pick up the team option on Malik Beasley today, sources told ESPN. LAL plans to stay in contact with both players’ representatives throughout free agency and could find different deal structures for Bamba and/or Beasley’s return to LA

Told you guys no one wanted Beas and Mo. They never had any trade value in the 1st place.

As per the norm, we overvalued them and now some team will sign them for scraps under the new CBA. Good luck to them. Beas will fit better on a team like the Warriors.

See ya Mo. I'm still not sure where and when the high ankle sprain took place. I still haven't seen any clips on yourtube that showed the occurrence of said injury.

Later Bease, wished your shots were falling here but as usual when they get to the Lakers, the shooters forget how to shoot.

This means the Lakers are likely going to negotiate aggressively with DLo. Unless there’s a 17M option in play, a huge core level piece they covet, I see DLO-Rui-Reaves all back for sure now. Small chance we instead go for a MLE option (or 17M starting player, if Rui is signed within 14M) but odds very high DLo is back too.

Sucks to lose an asset for nothing, but with the impact on financials we knew for sure this was going to the case with Buss family. I never thought we’d really be willing to move Beasley/Mo for a 25-30M level player. Just not the financial way this team is run.

Disagree. There was going to be value for this plus a 17th pick in the draft. Just, the financials of that meant the Lakers would have to let DLo go. So there was not a player or trade so good or appealing that was worth losing DLO, Mo and Beasley (plus a FRP).

Good.

They were trash anyway. Reaves, Rui, Brown, Dlo and other youth movement is the way to go. Bamba is just lazy and Beasley has no IQ.

They had *some* value, sure, but all the scenarios in the FA thread significantly overvalued them. As if the Pacers were gonna give us Myles and Buddy for them, even with the 17 involved. That's 2 starting caliber players for a 6th man at best and a dude who doesn't even play.

The Los Angeles Lakers requested waivers on center Mo Bamba and guard Shaquille Harrison.

All depends if Bamba gets picked up and if the Lakers are able to bring him back on a different contract.

I didn't want them to risk another team picking him up because he's the only other center we have aside from the rookie we just drafted. We shall see.

Bringing back Beasley and Bamba on friendlier deals would be a win.
Losing both for nothing would be a fail.

I certainly hope the Lakers can bring him right back. Between him and Castleton, I was thinking we might have the Center Duo we need to keep AD at PF from now on.

Lakers never actually used or tried to use him, there's not much to
talk about; good or bad.

Exactly. I guess the potential love came form his historic 3pt average and
potential rim protection. None of which we got to see.

Size, Youth, Swatting, Shooting, Dunking — everything before the high ankle sprain. It was brief and a small sample size, but it looked to me like he was filling the checklist of stuff we want from a real Center.

That's because he was, before he got hurt.

Hopefully the Lakers are able to bring him back on a lesser deal. Because otherwise they have no center outside of the one they just drafted.
