Maybe he quit playing hard in the 2nd half of the season to tank his stock after getting a commitment from the Lakers lol

Will need to work on his shot mechanics. Seems to start very low. Won't be able to get that off in the NBA. Does seem to have the Ingram style. Maybe that's what the Lakers saw.

Sounds like there are real red flags with him. It’s an upside pick.

Exactly. And his team sucked. He couldn't carry them. Still he has raw physical potential so don't hate the pick like JHS.

Watching some tape of him. This kid is LONG. He's 6'7" but has a 7'0" wingspan.

He's got deceptive twitch and really good at attacking the rim. The dunks are surprising.

So I looked up his vertical 36.5"

Naw fam. They're not contributing this year.
We're in trouble if we need them.

JHS can get a little run.

This year it's Max Christie's chance to get into the rotation.

Maxwell Lewis will do what Christie did this past season which is soak it up, learn, add weight and get stronger.

We definitely won't need them but we are a middle of the pack team so we might as well start developing them in spots to begin the transition for the 2024-2025 season and beyond.

He's literally what the Lakers need. An athletic slashing wing who can hit the three point shot. He plays under control in the clips I have seen. I would love to see his play making and defense, but the Laker's spending 4 million to grab him means they know something we don't. The scouting department has been VERY good over the last decade+.

The roster that ended last season was definitely upper tier.
I don't think we'll be a middle of the pack team this year.

I think they both sit and learn.
Max will get a shot. Id trust Troy Brown over the rooks.

The Lakers made a significant commitment to make sure they could get a chance at Maxwell Lewis, sending ~$4m to Indiana to move up from 47 to 40. The rangy 6-7 forward out of Pepperdine made a major impression in his predraft workout with the team.

Smart

So the Lakers somehow knew he would be there at 40 and not 47? I don’t buy that, extremely lucky if so. But I like the pick.

Or they peddled the cash and #47 to everyone and Indy was the highest one that bit.

Lewis has an NBA body. That guy is strong and big. Ignoring their ultimate ceilings, I think Lewis may be more nba ready than Christie was last year and JSH is now.

all the young guys will get minutes because Bron and AD are load managing the whole season, probably only play 55-65 games

We had a soft schedule and had good playoff pairings until we faced Denver. Our shooting and health woes are very real. We are 6th seed, maybe 5th. Maybe 1-2 rounds. That's middle of the pack insofar as cap, health/age and asset restrictions limit progression beyond that but lack of pure suckage delays the true rebuild. Try to see what assets you have while the team stays decent so you can forge ahead when the current stars finally leave/retire.
