Rob isn't going to do anything, and Jeanie will be busy hanging out with her posse the Rambis. |

I'm currently on the who cares option, much like half our team. Hopefully that changes. |

You know, I really don’t get some of you guys. This team is undermanned and fighting. They are taking the top teams in the NBA right to the limit. Why are you saying that they don’t care |

What is do hard to understand?
Long time Laker fans have been on the other side of this equation. Among the top contending teams that gets a nightly “mighty effort” from a bad team. Only to find a way to overcome and win the game. Or does the bad team find a way to lose?
Lakers team is what it is. 11-16 and out of the play-in ( not the playoffs, the f’n play-in!). Celebrating their efforts to stay close instead of losing by 20pts is entertaining but still frustrating as they post a “L”. |

Fair enough. For me, given the poor team construction, I had predicted a 40 game season, give or take. In the recent run they're actually doing a bit better than I thought, since for each horribly frustrating loss (Celts, Indiana) they've pulled out an unexpected win (Milwaukee, Denver)
Then yet again, it's still early. |

I posted this a couple days ago in the FA thread, but it seems that it needs to be repeated. Bobby Marks:
Quote: | There is a misconception the NBA trade season officially opens Dec. 15.
Yes, 74 players who signed free agent contracts are trade-eligible who weren't before. And yes, 89% (up from 73% a year ago) of the 441 eligible players under contract can be dealt.
But it is naive to think just because the calendar says Dec. 15, Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka and his 29 other counterparts wake up Thursday morning saying, "Let's make a deal."
That is not how it works.
A trade does not come about because of a mid-December date but rather dialogue among the 30 teams that started in the offseason and continues weekly during the regular season. |
Quote: | Phoenix Suns president of basketball operations James Jones best explained it as it relates to trying to find a trade partner for veteran forward Jae Crowder.
"There's no window where they say, 'Hey, all deals are done here,'" Jones told reporters last month. "We have natural deadlines, like the trade deadline, we usually have a flurry of deals. But other than that, it's just finding the right fit. And we just haven't been able to find that, yet."
That sentiment is a reason why it has been 12 years since the last Dec. 15 trade. It is also the reason why 84% of the trades consummated were either on or during the week of the February trade deadline.
There will certainly be a trade or two in the next month, but unless there is a trade too rich to pass on, teams are in a holding pattern until the week of Feb. 9, 2023. |
