Bill Russell won 11 championships in his 13-year career. It's a feat I don't think will ever be matched. RIP

If there is a Mount Rushmore or basketball, Russell is the first and biggest face on it. No one ever epitomized both the competitor and the man that he did. I miss him already.

I had to read this twice to make sure I didn't get it wrong. Russell's teams played 21 winner-take-all games in his career (the NCAA Tournament, the Olympics, and the NBA playoffs). Ten of them were in the NBA playoffs.

His teams won them all, 21 for 21. It's just astonishing.

I don't know if people know what Bill endured as a person. He lived in Boston, a very prejudiced city. He was married to a woman of the caucasian persuasion. Was he brave or a man of his own? I liken him to a Jackie Robinson of basketball.

When he was on a road trip his home was vandalized. The walls were smeared with feces. Don't know if they were animals or humans.

He stood with Ali along with LINK when he refused to go to Vietnam.

He didn't sign autographs so he was considered aloof. I don't think he traveled with bodyguards.

I consider William Felton Russell to be a man amongst men.

I dislike the fact he was a Celtic, but I respect his accomplishments on-and-off the court.
