Ben Simmons will likely be even worse than Westbrook on offense. BUT
it's inaccurate to say we need offense, what matters is the point differential.
In the NOH game we scored 126 points while giving up 133. We need to either find a way of scoring more points without impacting the current level of defense (I personally think this is rather difficult), or the opposite, score just as many but give up 10% fewer points (this used to be the team's MO in 2020). I don't know if Simmons's better defense is enough to offset his negative impact on the offense. |

Be careful what you wish for...Clips could easily get him with PG, as could Phoenix, or the Warriors. |

I would take Simmons over Russ. He plays D, runs the floor, handles the ball and can pass. Offense for sure is non existent. But at least he would have guarded BI in the Pelicans game in which BI basically dominated. Just an example. |

He cares only about the nets picks which the rockets own.
Maybe it's 5/10 years before the rockets compete |

With Russ you have 30odd games left. Ben Simmons had 38 and 40mil remaining on his contract after this year |

Believe me that wouldn't be my number 1 option at all....I'm just picking between the 2 for our needs. I honestly wouldn't even explore that deal. |

OK. There are 2 questions:
- what else will we have to give up since it won't be a 1-for-1
- Simmons' contract lasts through 2025. In other words he would be Westbrook Part 2 through 2025 contract-wise since with him we're back to not having trade-able assets. That is UNLESS you think AD + LBJ + Simmons + Rui + Reaves + Christie + vet-mins is enough to contend for championships. |

You guys will be the real winners in all this. Good thing you didn’t trade with Philly straight up for Ben “I don’t like basketball” Simmons.
You should place a bet on Rockets winning the Wembanyama lottery |

See this is the bull (bleep) not negotiating in good faith crap.
At least it’s over quickly so that Rob can pivot. Pressure is on him to fix things or blow up Klutch Angeles in the offseason. |

The metrics will tell you that the impact of Simmons' defense was always overrated. I can't think of another player for whom there is such a large disparity between the metrics and the popular consensus. I'm not sure why this is true, but it is.
Anyway, setting aside the offensive issues and the mental issues (both of which are a big deal), the overriding issue with Simmons is health. He appears to have a chronic back issue, and now he has a knee issue. He has a max contract. He's a guy to avoid, even if you can accept the other issues. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

Scout, not sure you are aware of Lillard’s contract. The answer to your trade proposal is a big fat no. Look at his contract, the largest per year salary in the nba.
Current contract
22-23: $42.5M
23-24: $45.6M
24-25: $48.8M
Extension*
25-26: $58.5M
26-27: $63.3M (P) |

This is getting weird. If Pelinka had good players to offer, he would have offered them and Brooklyn would have taken them. They wanted players to compete now. Players. Good ones. Dinwiddie and DFS are better players than anyone we had to offer. It’s not a Laker tax. It’s not personal. Players. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Yup, we wasted good players.in the Westbrook trade. Having Kuz and KCP right now would have made a difference on the court and in trade negotiations _________________ Previously LBJ23 |
