Only ones worth the cap space is our own player, LeBron.

Don't let the idea of signing FA's fool you, this is 100% about finances than it is flexibility.

Maybe incase Lebron walks, they don't want to be tied down with bloated role player contacts they can't trade either.

That makes the most sense.

I don't think the Lakers are targeting any particular free agent.

They just don't want money tied up in eh players, in case they have to spend big on extensions for Lebron and whoever else might be on the roster.
