Marc Stein summary (thanks to Lakers Vino)

Quote:
- Lakers have been willing to include one of the 2 first round picks they can trade but with protections.

- Russell Westbrook knows how badly LeBron James wants Kyrie Irving on this Lakers team.

- LeBron and the Lakers are both not in a rush to sign extension. LeBron and his family loves being in LA.

Rumors are Kyrie and Buddy Hield to the Lakers. Haven't seen a lot of Hield so I'm open.

I don't want Kyrie. He's a proven head case, Cleveland, Boston, and Brooklyn. Listen to Einstein. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Last time he was teamed up with Bron he was kind of a big part of winning a Championship so i'm not hoping for a different result

I personally couldn't care less about most of the reasons people are talking about in here as a players personal life doesn't interest me much at all. He's def. a bit of a headcase which is the only reason we have any chance in hell to get him but considering our options he's far and away our best chance at having any real opportunity at being a legit Contender. Buddy is def. not moving that needle much on his own.

Lakers are truly gonna be reluctant to part with picks now that LeBron might test FA next summer

If the Lakers won't give up more than one FRP to get Kyrie, maybe it means they're not in a rush to win another championship.

Not if you heard Jeanie talk about the Lakers being more competitive next year with Mark Medina.

Possibly he is willing in his final years to take one for the team depending upon who it might be?

If that's true and they are only willing to give up one first round pick, and they want protections on it... Then they are being unreasonable.

Nets will never take the poo poo platter with that protected pick

Just for face saving alone Marks won’t do it

If Pelinka can use that for leverage and cave on protections instead of having to deal two picks job well done

What else is she going to say?

Why do people think you going to get a ring getting Kyrie?
What has he done since LBJ left the cavs that show he going to get the Lakers a ring?
What would the Cavs fans say?
What would the celtics fans say?
What would the Nets fans say?
Are they crying that he left or pushing for their GMs to go get him?
Whats am i missing with this delusion?

Better question is where does he rank in current head cases and Toxicity? Isnt that a better question?

I don't see the circumstances lining up for the Lakers to get Kyrie.

If a Kyrie trade is reliant on KD getting traded, then I don't see a Kyrie trade even being possible any time soon.

The fact of the matter is that all the teams that could trade for KD are really good teams as is and can wait it out. The Nets are going to be bad anyway once they trade KD, so I don't think the results this season matter too much to them. KD is signed until 2026. Maybe they get pressured if starts to show clear signs of decline, but those things are impossible to predict.

Maybe the Nets dump Kyrie independently at the trade deadline if it's clear they aren't going to re-sign him. But, can the Lakers really wait for that? I don't think so.

What has he done since winning a ring? Well, he has averaged 25.4 ppg on 48.5 field goal percentage, 40.4 three point percentage, no 90.1 free throw percentage.

How does that compare with what Westbrook has done since he won a championship?………Oh, wait, I forgot, he never won one.

But Kyrie only a championship playing next to LeBron and a talented big…….Oh wait!

No No Nooo..dont try to turn that corner..come back over here.
That what you just said was the same mess they said about getting WB ,,,,,"Ahhh Ahh he a walking triple double double double..blah. Just look what he did in Washington. He got them to the playoffs"...something Kyrie cant even say..pretty much injured on every team when he not being a headache for the team and players.

..How many of those teams want Kyrie back since he had such numbers?...How many of those team's teammates want him back on the team?...hmmmmm. I wonder why?

You think Tatum would want him back? How about Harden?..im sure that will go over well....lol...Even Cuban not trying to step in that mess...pffft lol!
I thought it was outright STUPID to get WB..but LEGM thought he could be the PLAYER WHISPERER...but he not....now he wants to try it again with Kyrie? When will this stupidity stop?

Mida fact why dont LeGM go talk to Tom Brady because Kyrie is the NBA's Antonio Brown...smh...its not going to end well...lol.

Or maybe they think (correctly in my mind) that adding Kyrie won’t make them champions.

I agree. I think they need Kyrie and another shooter to be able to compete. With Kyrie and Hield then maybe they have a chance.

If they're going for Kyrie, there's almost no point in going for Hield. That backcourt gets murdered on defense. The appeal of Hield to me was if Turner goes with him. A 5 that can shot-block, switch, and stand in the corner with a modicum of gravity does far more for this this team production-wise than Kyrie. Hield is a bonus that opens up the floor even more.

Kyrie is a name that only services the old "Lebron needs to take some plays off" narrative that has somehow convinced this fanbase is the only thing separating us from play-in spot to championship contention. He needs the same thing he needed in 2020 -- defense and some room to score. Kyrie solves none of these things while Turner almost by himself solves both. Also, we get one of the best shooters in the league along with him. Also also: if the damn floor could just get opened up and give AD room to operate, Lebron WOULD have someone to take the scoring load off his shoulders, but we keep giving him these lane-clogging 5s that make both he AND Lebron work harder to score. Again: Turner/Hield solves this. Lebron and AD would both have their easiest offensive load since coming here. And still easier than if Kyrie was on the team.

The superiority of the Hield/Turner trade is so glaring, it's almost tragic how shrugged over it is on this board. I liked the idea of Kyrie back when it was seemingly the only alternative to Russ, but it's plainly yet another "surely a Big Three will work *this* time" clown show.

Perhaps. But you know...

I always find it amusing how so many people rush to call LeBron the 2nd or 3rd greatest player of all time yet we're sitting here talking about a team with him, Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving with what they'd have on the team(just ridding it of Westbrook and keeping everyone else) still wouldn't be enough to compete for a Championship and would need more.

Meanwhile the Warriors and Curry just won a Championship with Andrew Wiggins as their 2nd best player.

It's just interesting to think about.
