I'm willing to be patient with Max. I believe somewhere in there lies a solid rotation player that can shoot, rebound and defend. Just needs the reps and the confidence to put the pieces together.

I’m sure the front office will push for him being back in the rotation, even if it is for 1 to 2 shifts.

this kid is a good rebounder, good defender, good shooter, can create his own shots, he is a little weak(strength wise), but he needs to play, if Cam is the one losing minutes, then so be it.

Max is shooting 40% from the field and 32% from 3. He needs to give the coaching staff a reason to play him but he isn’t doing that.

He should play more. He is more versatile offensively, and unlike vando/cam he doesn't die on screens. Plus his rebounding is solid

Rough game but there's still talent there. I'd rather work through struggles with him than ride Cam or Vando any day.

He’s a guy bad teams give minutes too in order to develop. Lakers are trending to bad team land you might as well play him.

If he’s not showing something by the end of the season I’d expect he will be out of the league next year

I saw RJ blow by him in the final 2 minutes, definitely think he is better at guarding smaller guards right now. Room for growth defensively for sure. Still possibly our second best 3&D wing tho. His rebounding is fierce

If you haven’t seen this kid in a post game presser, check out his interview after last night’s game. Incredibly mature for a 20yr old, humble and professional. Max has a ton of potential. Hoping he gets more minutes.

I think he’s getting the perfect amount of time. Just enough to improve and not so much you neuter the kid. Next season he will be ready for the minutes everyone wants him to have. A year stronger, he will have had just enough NBA time so the game will slow down a bit for him, and his shooting will improve to what we expect it to be. If he manages to figure it out by playoffs I won’t complain though.

why would he be out of the league? there are players far worse than him riding nba benches

Yeah I saw that too but it's one data point, overall he was pretty decent defensively. Plus as you point out, he's not a finished product yet, still has loads to learn.

I like his defense navigating screens better than our other two main perimeter defenders at this point. I don't think he is as good at individual defense as them, but his screen navigation helps our overall defense a lot. His individual defense is good though, and he doesn't get lost off the ball (so far at least).

I think offensively he has shown he can hit from distance but also the midrange, which is something Cam or Vando don't have. I think this helps our offense as a team.

I like his rebounding. He goes up high and seems to secure the ball well. We sometimes get burnt by long rebounds or guys not boxing out, doesn't seem to be the case with him.

I think the things I've listed above make him more dynamic than other options, and is why I'd like to see him start, or play with the starters more.

Per tim_nba he's up to 43% from 3 on spot ups, 1.3 ppg in total (so including attacking close outs).

That's all he really needs to do on offense.

Then he gives you ++++rebounding (lets you get away with playing a little smaller otherwise) and pretty good defense.

He's young and still situational right now but it's obvious to me that Christie is a real asset if used correctly.

Seems more confident than at the start of the year and is starting to look like a (late for now) rotation player.

Yeah Christie really wants that poster. He's definitely had a few that could have gone down but he isn't strong enough yet. Reminds me of BI actually in that regard.
