This isn’t just some buddy to buddy thing, Lakers lacked toughness last year and Sheed was a fierce competitor as a player back in the day, and will install that dawg attitude on the team. |

Strange hire
Sheed always had emotional problems. You don't want that coaching anyone. |

For further context: Wallace was recently identified as a candidate for Ham’s staff. The two sides have not yet reached a formal contract stage. |
|
So is this real or not? It sounds like Charania is backtracking. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

yeah that sounds like a backtrack to me. "for further context" --- yeah that context is important when you reported he was JOINING the staff.
I think he got a tip and jumped the gun. |

Yep. "Agreed on a deal" changed to "have not reached a formal contract stage." I appreciate the difference between an oral agreement and a written contract, but it sounds like someone told him that it wasn't really a done deal yet. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

If he and Ham can light a fire under Davis, I am ok with the hire. |

Go ahead and hire Metta as well, along with Rondo. Then give me an offensive coach and keep Phil Handy as the development coach. |

If Dwight can change his approach then so can Sheed, I think Sheed will be serious and won’t do anything that will defer the team in any way. |

From what I have heard or read about Rasheed, he is very well spoken and smart. He was an assistant for the Pistons, a high school coach, and an assistant to Penny Hardaway for Memphis Tigers college.
In addition, he was mentored by Dean "freakin" Smith at UNC and Larry Brown while in Detroit.
I think all those things are experience enough to me..... |

He has definitely gathered knowledge over the years anth2000, we all think AD is soft sometimes just imagine if AD gained knowledge and toughness from 1 of the best PF’s of all time for a 82 game season that would really help him play with that fierce edge. |

Would you prefer the front office to force assistants on him instead?
To paraphrase Bill Parcells - if you're going to let Ham cook dinner, let him pick the groceries. |
Why is the alternative is Rambis? I would want my HC be fair dont want another disaster like Luke |

Russell Westbrook says his 3 favorite players were Pau Gasol, Rasheed Wallace and Kobe Bryant.

My guess is this is in the verbal agreement stage and still missing a signed contract. I don't read too much into it. _________________ Not a legend |

I guess my recollection of Wallace’s playing days are different then yours.
“Fierce competitor” would not be in the top ten attributes that come to mind.
I will be disappointed if Davis plays anything like a Wallace over the course of the season. Davis (at his best) surpasses anything Wallace ever added to a team.
Whatever… that was a long time ago. Maybe he has some hidden coaching abilities to add. Ham apparently wants him. And there seems to be an assumption that he might be able to get improvements from Westbrook.
Hope it works. |

As long as Rasheed tells Rambis to (bleep) off in the coaching staff sessions I'm all for it. |

So you expect a short coaching stint for him here? _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

This is not remotely like Luke hiring his buddies imo.. I personally love the potential of this hire as long as we still get some experienced assistants as well.. He can be that Dudz or Haslem type of voice and he has actual coaching experience at lower levels as well so he's been transitioning for awhile now.
I'll repeat once again we absolutely need that experience as well but this coaching staff with just Ham and Sheed is leaning towards the no BS approach and will not be easily walked all over by the players or FO. Obviously none of us know for sure what the rest of the coaching staff will look like and how the team will respond but as of now i'm loving it compared to what it could have very easily looked like with the other candidates available. |
