The Los Angeles Lakers have added former Wisconsin Badger Vitto Brown to their Summer League roster, his agency Edge Sports told
@hoopshype
. Brown played well for Seville in Spain’s ACB league.
26 yo, 6'8" PF, playing in "La Madre España". Maybe looking for a spot in the
G-League? maybe.
Don't know if there were more, but here are some (all) of the 2nd rounders bought yesterday:
#35 Lakers; $2.2m (est) plus 2028 2nd
#38 Memphis $1m plus LAL 2nd rounder in 2024
#44 Golden St $2m plus #51
#49 Cleveland $1.75m plus rights to Vezenkov
#58 Milwaukee $1m
I think the Lakers got the best value there. Our 2024 pick vs the better of LAL/WAS 2028 pick is probably a wash. So an extra million to go three spots higher at that point in the draft is totally worth it.
Would have loved to have purchased another pick in the mid 40's to early 50s. Seems like that would have cost another $1m - $2m. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night.

I'm guessing money wasn't as big of an issue as giving up an asset as well which everyone outside of the Bucks who bought a late 2nd had to do. Thanks for the list though, that's interesting to see! We def. got the best value for sure imo as well.
hopefully Max works out well down the line. This was an iffy pick at 35. There were better players with solid college performances, shooting, defending, etc abilities.. available @ #35.
Ryan Rollins (Sophmore) - GSW
Alondes Williams (Senior) - Nets
Jaden Hardy (G.League)- Mav's
Kendall Brown (Freshman) - Pacers
Curious where would current Reaves be picked in this draft? First rd?
That's an interesting thought exercise. He has shown that he can play in the NBA, which is better than what many of these guys will accomplish. But his ceiling appears to be limited (though he may surprise me). Up to some point in the draft, teams are going to value guys with upside potential over a sure thing with a lower ceiling. They're looking to draft guys who will be bona fide starters, as opposed to just generally useful bench players. Where would that point come? I'd say at some point after the lottery picks, probably around the mid-'20s. So I'd say that Reaves would be likely to in the 25-40 range, depending on how the teams judge his ceiling (in particular, his ability to improve his three point shooting).
Interesting, what about current THT, still 21, would he be a lottery?

No. His three-point percentage has dropped each year, and he hasn't improved much overall. He'd be a speculative pick. He was the 46th pick three years ago. I think that's about where he would go right now. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved
ESPN Sources: NBA two-way contracts will remain ½ the rookie minimum contracts for the 2022-2023 season -- $502K with a limitation of 50 regular-season games and no playoff eligibility.
This has been approved by the governors.
So to get a player eligible for the playoffs they have to sign a regular contract. Anyone know by when a player has to sign that new contract? _________________ 💜💛 🏆 👀 🍖 #18!!!

If we had drafted an undersized guard, this board would have lost its mind.
That happens no matter what we do.
The board didn't lose its mind over Christie.
OK great. How about this board (and most boards) loses its mind over the most pointless stuff. If they lost their mind because we picked up an arguably lottery level pg with the 35th pick, I suppose I could live with that.
Is the Memphis board losing their mind over picking him 38th?

This article says last day of the regular season.
Quote:
3. A player on a two-way contract who has his contract turned into a standard NBA deal by his current team any time up until the last day of the regular season can play in the postseason for that team.

Orlando Robinson is 6-11 from Fresno State. Hasn't signed.
John Butler is 7'1' from Florida State. Also available.
Our list so far:
Vanderbilt G Scotty Pippen Jr.
UConn G RJ Cole
Syracuse F Cole Swider
LSU F Shareef O'Neal
Houston F Fabian White Jr.
Really hoping we sign Robinson. My boy is in the Fresno State marching band so I caught a few of their games.
Robinson isn't a freakish, Giannis-type athlete, but he's got legit size (6-9.75 w/o shoes, 7-4 WS) and good, fluid mobility. He was active on glass and not afraid to mix it up, and he has a nice-looking mid-range to arc shot. Good balance and footwork, won't fall over at the first contact in the paint. He does have 3-point range, but I think he only shot 33-35%, max. Would love to see him play next to a versatile frontcourt player like LBJ or AD and maximize his versatility, as well.

Lakers’ scouting department has shown their druthers over the last five or so years at finding talent late in the draft. If they like Max, then he’s got a good chance of turning out well.

Arguably lottery level? Naw. To paraphrase Bill Parcells, you are what your draft position says you are. That doesn't mean that he can't outperform his draft position. This happens every draft. But if you're really a lottery level player at the time of the draft, you don't get passed over by the next 23 teams after the lottery slots. That's the assessment by the people who matter.
It's common for people to fall in love with a player during draft season. It's okay. We see it every year. In fact, you could be right. This kid might turn out to be a star in the NBA. You never know. But most undersized guards just can't cut it. I guess we got Scottie Pippen, Jr. to fill the undersized project guard slot. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved
