It's kind of out of the box. Maybe he's more likely to take a 3 year contract and let Kurt pick his assistants. |

I remember he was an assistant coach with us for player development under Mike Brown and then D’Antoni. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

I dont mind it. Interview as many assistant coaches as you can and hire one. |

Now we sit back and hope a 2nd team doesn't interview him and let him discover there's franchises where one of the worst coaches in NBA history doesn't insist on picking your staff. Oh also, here's a 2-year contract with a league bottom pay scale. |

I have no idea if he would be good but the fact that he's young and seems to have an understanding of today's league is a good thing. |

It’s Good to see the Lakers thinking out of the box, they see 1st year coaches like Udoka and Jenkins having a Impact on their team and are changing how they approach the coaching search. |

Yeah, I love the simple fact they are at least showing interest in candidates that aren't just "big names". I don't know much about Darvin at all as a coach so I have no real opinion on him.
IMO they need to focus on a whole package kind of like with the 2020 Season which was just a very well rounded staff. That can get any solid "young" coach looking good right off the bat. There's not any legitimate great coaches available that I know of but a decent amount of solid coaches for sure if they're willing to take assistant roles. |

If they wanted someone who would listen to orders they would just hire someone like Steve Clifford or Mike Brown, so I disagree.. this potential hire is really about thinking about how the modern NBA works and I have criticized the FO but this is a good step for them. |

Thankfully I'm a Vegan, nice play on the animal/meat selections... Nothing against Darvin Hamm whatsoever, he's had a good NBA career and post career as an assistant.
However when it comes to the Lakers, there's a different measure. My point is simply that I would expect the FO go after a "stop-gap" coach, someone to cover the span of the next few seasons while LeBron starts his exit strategy, in lieu of adding a high-profile, caliber coach who could actually help them recruit players post the LBJ & AD error! Remember with the Lakers it's not just about Championships, its about Dynasties! |

I like the first attempt to find a new coach.
Doubt he'll get it, but this is better than total retread territory.

Didn't see this coming but I like it. New generation of coaches is something Lakers need. Going back to the past is not leading to anything.
And most importantly don't try to please anyone. Hire the coach that will build new identity and culture. I don't care who Lebron wants and neither should Lakers FO. |
