Expectations. No one expected LA to beat Denver.

For Vogel, the expectations always seem rather unreasobable. He fuels it with championship talk, playing harder than everyone else, smash mouth basketball etc. So when it doesn't happen, he's an easy target. Westbrook didn't fit in, Jeanie needed to blame someone couldn't/wouldn't blame Pelinka, so Vogel it was.

Ham has already mastered the game of deflecting. If you read his transcripts, he's always ready to downplay the results and the expectations. He's really good at talking cliches.

They have make sure someone wants to coach this team. Not everyone is coachable + they see how players aren’t held accountable, only the coach is. This is a toxic job at the moment

That alone is why he shouldn't coach us.

There was tremendous respect for Ham as a person, and players had an appreciation for his pro career and time as an assistant coach in Atlanta and Milwaukee. But, as one player said recently, “We need to be coached, too.”

Would like to see what the team looks like first before they get the head coach. It's important to get a coach that matches the strengths of the roster, just ask PHX.

It may be difficult to if a lot of teams are looking for head coaches though.

As real as this may be, this could easily be a 12th man saying this. You will never have all 14 guys happy. The main thing to me with Shams, and Woj. They don't seem to source the star. Maybe because the star ain't talking to them. What we need to know is how Lebron, AD etc feel about the situation. If they agree with whichever scrub said this, it's definitely over.

I recall Shams making such a big cry over the midseason, and nothing really ensued. The team did recover and win a lot of games. Was clear to me back then, it wasn't AD/Bron talking to Shams.

Mcmenamin

Quote:
Yet rather than the team's resiliency being applauded as the prevailing sentiment surrounding the late-season success, multiple team sources told ESPN that the Lakers should have -- or even would have -- finished better than No. 7 in the West and avoided the play-in tournament had Ham settled on that starting lineup much sooner.

"The job of a coach is to make the best out of what you have," one team source told ESPN. "And he wasn't doing that."

Quote:
"We have stretches where we just don't know what we're doing on both ends of the floor," he said.

Ham took exception to the comments, telling reporters he has an "incredibly talented" staff that prides itself in being "highly efficient and organized" and addressed Davis privately, while publicly rebuffing him.

"I'll agree to disagree on that one," Ham said.

A team source was confounded by Ham's lack of accountability, questioning to ESPN the merit in boasting about his coaching staff's preparedness while the Nuggets ran their win streak against them into double-digits. Ham's adjustments, or lack thereof, stood out so much that Nuggets coach Michael Malone said in between Games 2 and 3 that his team had "gone over adjustments [for] different players and play-calls that we haven't even had to show yet."

Ham sucked. The small ball crap was REALLY bad. That said, who can coach LeBron James? Spo? Ty? The list ends there no? He’s LeBron freaking James. He does what he wants to do. It’s an impossible job to be honest. For a first time head coach it’s actually unfair. Just sayin.

I don't think Lebron is the one that needs coaching. For example when the team won a title, I don't think Frank's impact was on Lebron. Moreso it was guys lke Caruso, KCP, AD, Green, Rondo, Howard. Those guys were able to peak defensively, know what the adjustments were on defense, and all that. Play together as a team.

The issue with this group and Ham, IMO, is not Lebron. It's more the "others" as Shaq calls them. They don't seem to have consistent message and lineups were shuffled so much, no one really knew their role until late in the season.

If we do make a coaching change, we need to determine what coach can get the most out of the non-Lebron's. Because even Spo had Lebron in his prime, and they didn't exactly get along or see eye to eye. It's not Lebron that I would worry about. Who would get the most out of Rui, Reaves, DLO, AD, Vandy, etc.

I won't lie, I watched a bit of the podcast with Lebron/JJ it's pretty good. Not sure JJ will translate all his smarts into actual coaching, but he seems very sharp.

Trash coach. Can’t wait until he’s gone. Man threw away the season for Cam (bleep) Reddish and Spencer Dinwiddie. Why the (bleep) is he so in love with small lineups?

Lebron isn’t the problem. We just need a coach that’s smart enough to not put 3-4 guards on the court AT THE SAME TIME lol

Questionable coach but obviously the scapegoat, just like Mike Brown, Spoelstra, Blatt, Lue, Vogel were.

No way should Ham be back next season, no (bleep) way.

LOL. Guess some people don’t get tired throwing shade at Lebron. Lebron is the main reason any of these coaches had success.

From an ESPN article... quote from Ham talking about having a "next play" mentality.:

"Go to the basket, miss a layup? F--- it. Next play.
Referee calls a bulls--- foul? F--- it. Next play.
Play great defense, they got an offensive rebound? F--- it. Next play.'"

Denver got MULTIPLE offensive rebounds and 50/50 balls. There is no NEXT PLAY Darvin. The time was NOW, dude. But you squandered it. And the team doesn't have the right mindset because of this BS next play mentality.
U have to get after it and ATTACK... not "get em next time"
