Seems like every year the talent pool gets bigger. I'll admit I haven't watched much footage of the prospects, but Jaden Ivy looks incredible, and Bennedict Mathurin is a next level athlete.

Not getting him with a 8th pick (give or take). He is going top 2/3. So realistically if we were drafting at or around 8 I would be looking for a versatile big that can play center and avoid having to play glass boy there if we keep him as future.
So Duran from Memphis would likely be best big left at that point. And then hope kid like Oscar from UK was available for a second round pick they we could buy
All suffering is temporary. Lakers have always been historically great. They will bounce back.
Love the optimism. We are in for a rough stretch after next year. We went a decade between our last 2 championships and I think our next one will take us longer.
Assuming the Lakers had their pick....you would pick _____________
This thread will repeat for a few years. The art of tanking without picks. This stretch will be like Celtics picking Tatum and Brown with Nets picks.
I think Holmgren will be a bust. Bad NBA body and can’t take over a game on his own. Best player I’ve seen this year is Banchero. 6’10 240 takes it off the dribble, elite scoring ability. He reminds me of a shorter but more skilled Giannis (at least at the same ages). He’s going to be a star.
Not many other guys show star potential but at least Ivey has the Morant type athletic ability. He’s not the passer Morant is tho.
If there was a year for the Lakers to not have a pick it’s this year. Not any can’t miss guys in the draft other than Banchero imo
Yup. None of this “we are collaborating and sharing the failures and successes together” crap. Need a “It’s my show get the (bleep) out of the way” leader who knows what they are doing and is not afraid to take all the heat.

So, you'd pass up Gasol? Or Jokic when he was tons thinner and unathletic too?
Yeah, it's going to take him 2-3 years to come along physically, but he's crazy skilled. Whoever drafts him needs to take their time with him and not rush the process. He needs to bulk the F up or his spine is going to be busted by year 3.

I don't think it's anywhere nearly as serious as you think it is. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

His low weight is a fairly serious concern IMO. For reference, Durant was 220 coming into the league. BI was around 200. That's one of the reasons both played SG before transitioning into forwards. Chet's body is still developing and they can't rush him into playing 30-35 min a game, especially at the C position. That's the value of NBA teams having world class trainers and nutritionists (even though some are questionable).

1. You're assuming they're rushing a player in.
2. You're assuming he plays center.
You legitimately listed two underweight players that made it into the league and became productive. Chet is a better defender, rebounder, more physical, and more motor than both, but you're doubting him.
That's why I don't think it's anywhere nearly as serious as you think it is. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
